It does take some effort to support SD, but how much money does it really cost? I don't know. A little bit sure, but probably not that much in the end. They're trying to make the PS3 a home entertainment device, so being compatible with all those flash cards out there for picture viewing is one way to do that.

Now, whether or not the PS3 shoould be a home entertainment device or just a "simple" gaming console, that's a different question!

Personally, I think it is dumb on behalf of Sony to support so many different formats right out of the box. Sure, its nice PS3 supports SD memory, but why increase the cost of the console for it? It would be easy enough to offer an add-on for other formats. Besides, considering how much Sony has invested, its not a crime for Sony to want to promote its own memory stick products.

Love the dual HDMI spec! Although I doubt it can be done, dual screen multi-player action would be awesome!! (no more looking at your opponents split screen for snipping)
