Datel Xchange 360

Gaming 360 has an article about the Datel Xchange 360. It’s basically a way to transfer data from memory cards to your PC. You can back it up, replace data, whatever.

But doesn’t this strike you as somewhat unnecessary? The Xbox 360 is network enabled. Can’t you just see the Xbox 360 on your home network and copy stuff from it that way? Why would you need an external device and software for this?

  1. Michael McGehee Says:

You wouldn’t need the Xchange thing, unless to didn’t buy a $100 dollar network adapter. If the Xchange thing cost less than the network adapter than this could be a cheaper alternative for them. And, I mean, come on, it’s an extra way fro microsoft to make money, right?!

  2. Black Guy Says:

    Michael:

The network adapter is not needed for the 360 to connect to a network or computer; the 360 has a LAN port builtin. The $100 device u referenced is 802.11 a/b/g adapter for wireless connectivity.

“The Xbox 360 is network enabled. Can’t you just see the Xbox 360 on your home network and copy stuff from it that way?

This is not possible. The memory devices for the 360 read/write only from the 360 and the information cannot be copied or read externally. For the most part, the communication between the 360 and the home network is primarly one way; PC to 360.

iGuess it is so in an attempt to curb piracy.

  4. Michael McGehee Says:

BLACK: Thanks for telling me that;I guess I need to re-evaluate my xbox knowledge.

  5. tenchi07 Says:

Michael… look into the product… it’s made be DATEL not Microsoft… secondly, if it’s anything like action replay that DATEL released for xbox and ps2… it’ll be kick ass

  6. tenchi07 Says:

oh… and just in case anyone cares, the xchange costs about $14.99…

  7. Nhusker Says:
