A company called TransGaming Technologies makes PC games available for Linux through emulation software, so it is conceivable to get PC games working on the PS3. But it would be a big effot.

Why don't games allow users to save a game whenever they want to? Because it's easier for the developer. If you can save the game anywhere, anytime, you probably need to save and restore more information, and more complicated information, than if you set predefined points at which you can save.

I think the PS3 will have a somewhat full Linux OS. But I have a feeling it will be limited in some ways.

Thanks Henning. That clears up some stuff for me, the rest we'll have to wait til e3 to find out more. Is it conceivably possible for pc programs to work on the ps3? Why is it that gaming systems so far don't allow the user to save a game when they want? In your opinion, since it has be confirmed from phil harrison's gdc keynote that the ps3 will have a linux os, do you think that it is possible that the ps3 could have the full os? These are just your opinion questions for you to guess at. If anyone knows anything or wants to take a guess at this stuff, i'd love your input.
