Another issue w/ PC games is the DRM programs that r stealthly installed on u'r computer w/o u'r consent. My friend has had to reload his computer from scratch many times - even suffered a hardware failure (according to him)- because the DRM brought such havok to his computer. There were time he couldn't even burn a music CD cuz the DRM (starforce) thought he was trying to copy the game to disc. It was absolutely ridiculous. Ppl spend good money on their rigs and even though the game rights r owned by the company, they don't have the right to install such things on a person's systems.

This is one of the biggest reasons iStay w/ consoles. True, computers will always b ahead in terms of possible performance capabilities, but the console reigns supreme for the piece of mind of knowing that the game WILL work and its affordability.

Any average person would have believed the game would work if their specs exceeded or matched the minimum specified by the game. iWould never have thought to check if the card can do certain graphical features. Most ppl don't even know what texture mapping is much less dynamic texturing. WTF? Consoles r where its always going to b @; no contest.

PC gaming is a hassle at times, it certainly takes a lot more effort and knowledge to get the best performance. On the other hand, I've had a Radeon 9800 Pro for nearly 3 years, and I bought it because it was a proven card with great performance. I've run dozens and dozens of games and demos, and only about two have not worked because of a hardware issue. You don't always have to have the latest gear, but the MX series is very well known as being not supported by most games over the last 3 years because it lacks so many features. I'd personally advise against getting a used vid card unless you know the person selling it.

Plus with a console the nearer it is to the end of it's lifespan the better the games become.

Compare the games of a consoles 1st year to it's 5th & the difference in quality is usually immense. Just look at God of War & it's soon to be sequel.

With a PC after 1 year it's time for an upgrade.

full agreement there.

I mean, plug and play has made things better as far as getting stuff installed, but even w/ direct x, gaming on pc is always a crapshoot and whenever you want something new, a new piece of hardware or a driver reinstall or some text string tweak is practically guaranteed.

When I got my ps2 I fell off pc gaming majorly, and when I got my xbox it was over.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. I'll ask the guys at work if they have any used ones that are still good. (Some of them always have to have the latest.)

No this is what you do. Go and get a proper graphics card. The MX range are just shit. I had one of the first a GeForce2 MX and they should carry a big sticker on the front warning that they will not be able to run most games.

You see that's exactly why I've never even tried PC gaming myself as it's just too much hassle.

Is your graphics card compatible! Do your specs meet the requirements! Do you have the right OS! Then there's the fact you need to upgrade your PC almost every year to play the latest games at a high standard. Then there's the problems of the games crashing & being full of bugs! Arggghhh!!

All you need to do with consoles is put the disc in, make sure you have enough space on your memory card & away you go. Gaming fun at the press of a button.

The way it should be.
