Gamesindustry.biz has a job listing for a “Senior/Lead Designer to have a key role in realising future iterations of Wipeout on PSP and PS3“.
I think it’s quite clear that WipEout will be coming to PS3 & after the success of the PSP version I’m sure this is a good thing.
WipEout played a big part in the early success of the PSone so the only surprise is there isn’t already a WipEout game in development.

I’ve never understood the fascination with hovercar games. There’s something just a lot more visceral about actually being in contact with the ground.

I love WipEout. I own all the games from the original release to the latest PSP title and even all the soundtracks on CD (WO, WO 2097, W3O and Pure).
Really Glad a new one is coming to PS3. I’m a sukka for this old franchise.
