With a 2x Blu-Ray Drive the noise should be signifigantly less than the 12x DVD drive in the 360. I believe the PS3 OS will be slow to develop also. It would be slow going at first because nothing would be compiled for the Cell/PS3 version of Linux. But as people start using it, more software will be made available by enterprising users. The 360 makes a lot of noise, you forget it while you are in the middle of the game, but for anyone else in the room not playing, it's really loud i think.
