EA on PS3 |

An EA executive said in a conference,

This Christmas, it’s going to be difficult to harness the full power of the PS3 on first generation software versus what will be second generation 360 games, so they’re going to be more alike than different, is our opinion at this time. […]
As those machines develop over time […] there’s a lot of horsepower inside the PS3 that we’ll be able to unlock over years two, three, and four that we’re very excited about.

So first-gen PS3 games will match the quality of second-gen 360 games. And PS3 will have lots of potential to tap into in subsequent generations. Great news!

EA on PS3 Launch

    very true

It is to be expected, just look at the PS2. Same difference, but I wouldn’t be to worried.

Not to rain on the parade, but what does that exactly mean? Since EA does not really do exclusives, if their is a difference between Xbox 360 and PS3 wont they make the game for least powerful system. Again, that’s if there is a difference in power.

  • Matt

Right Chemical. The power difference is in the CPU, not the GPU. The games are going to look the same. If you think otherwise you are going to be very dissappointed.

  • There will be very little difference between the PS3 & 360 with multi-platform games. So the only comparisons that can be made will be between the big exclusives such as Halo 3 & the new Kilzone or other AAA games of the same genre.

I don’t care which console is the more powerful, or which has the better specs. I’m only interested in the games & how they play & both consoles will have great games it just boils down to which console has the better exclusives which suits your needs.

That’s why I’m siding with the PS3. I can’t play FFXIII, DMC4, MGS4, Heavenly Sword etc on the 360 & I can only afford to own one new console.

EA games very rarely interest me. And historically they have always made games with graphics that are decidedly average looking compared to exclusive games. Even on the uber popular PS2. I fully expected EA to make games on Xbox 360 and PS3 the same regardless of what power they think they are harnessing from either. If we are lucky we might see some slight differences in PS3 games down the road. But to be honest I don’t really care much for EA.

  • I am completely with Gary.

I dont care if the 360 or the PS3 is more powerful! My decision was already made with the PS1… Final Fantasy, Metal Gear and Gran Turismo wont come for the other systems (MGS1 for PC (VERY BAD PORT!!) and MGS2S (again VERY BAD PC PORT and this time also a XBox port) being a “slip up”).

I for one am extremly tech savvy. And the Cell being a real new thing, I’d love to see, what it can do (I just hope a more than basic Linux is included, or even just allowed :D) other than games and video. I do much 3D modelling and stuff (everything VERY much parallel calculating) and having seen some benchmark of the Cell, I’d love to code my scenes on my PS3 😀 as my Desktop and Laptop are beginning to show sings of aging (Barton 2500+ and Pentium M 1,866).

    And to Phipscube…

It has always been like that. Ever bothered to compare X-Box and PS2 Fifas? Man, I KNOW the X-Box is (in some terms, like shaders) more powerful, but gamewise, there was NO difference at all…

Then, after seeing Resident Evil 4, MGS3, GoW or GT4 on PS2, I was SHOCKED how much has been done for that system. Same goes for the XBox (cant tell to many graphic whore games, but there are some…).

Ahh… btw. I have just beaten RE4 (on PS2) on Professional!! My brother never managed to get past Krauser (because he always lacked ammo), but I did it the 3rd try 😀

I agree with what you guys are saying, I think the exclusives really define which console you should get. Though there are some games I would like fot the ps3 I will wait till a major price cut. I got my ps2 at $150 US. I got my xbox 360 because im favoring, Halo3, Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fable 2, Gears of War.
