What do you want in your PS3 Box?

Only about two months away, the launch of the PS3 is coming fast. Recently Sony made some waves by revealing on their website that the PS3 won’t come bundled with an HDMI cable. Personally, though disappointed, I understand Sony’s decision. The next question in my mind is, of course, is what will be in the box. I’m trying to be realistic here. This is what I’d like to see:

  • Wireless Controller and USB Charging Cable
  • Component video cables & audio cables.
  • Headset
  • BD Movie (SpiderMan 2?)
  • Failing the above BD movie, a BD with HD demo material including movie trailers.

Did I miss anything?

I wouldn’t be all that surprised if there wasn’t a charging cable either, but it depends what kind of batteries are used in the controller- it’s no big deal though as these mini-usbs are everywhere these days. I’d hope to see:
    #The PS3
#A Wireless controller (w. usb cable)
#A Blu-ray demo disc with demos of games (both released and coming soon) and a demo of Blu-ray as an HDmovie playback device
    #Component cable
    #A manual
    And in the US
#One of those pre-pay cards for the online service- probably with no credit loaded, or maybe a small amount.

I don’t think we’ll see a headset, but if we do it had better not be as cheap as Microsoft’s bundled one. I’d also like to see a remote for the premium version, but again I doubt it would get bundled.

  2. Segitz Says:

There absolutely must be a BD Disc in it. I doesnt have to be a full feature movie, but some sort of demo disc is a must.

Some game demos too (although they could be downloaded)

Then, the USB cable… I wouldnt care, as I already have one for my PSP :D

Component cable is a MUST. And for those unfortunate enough to have no HDTV there should AT LEAST be a S-Video cable included, as composite sucks…

Then there should be a Cat5 (at least) cable (at least 5 meters).

And maybe a small Memory Stick, just like with the PSP, although its not that needed.

  3. SL33PY Says:

[*] BD Demo disk with demo’s of PS3 Launch titles
[*] 1 GigaBit Capable UTP Cable to connect my new monster to my lan
[*] 1 pair of white satin gloves to touch the PS3 (optional) :D

  4. coolbreeze06 Says:

That would be awsome if they included a headset…i doubt it. I wonder if my USB headset fromps2 will work. What do ya’ll think?

  5. Henning Says:

My gues is that it would. Sony is really trying to standardize with their PS3. They have several kinds of memory card readers. They use Bluetooth instead of something proprietary (like Microsoft). Standard HDD that you can swap out. USB cable for charing controller. So I’d think a regular USB headset would work too. Though I don’t know for sure.

  6. Tosh Says:

    I want X-Men : The Last Stand on Blu-ray :)

  7. coolbreeze06 Says:

you know they will pack in HD trailers for upcoming sony movies…just like the PSP did…music videos, upcoming games, and movie trailers. Should be nice!

  8. Caleb Says:

Shouldn’t any demos or HD videos be downloadable from the PNP? I see little use in them prepackaging content when you could download it and it wouldn’t cost them anything.

  9. Henning Says:

For those people who don’t want to or can’t go online?

For instant gratification? (You don’t have to wait for the download.)

  10. Dave Says:

I hope $600 is worth it

  11. zan Says:

can you play ps 2 games on ps3?

  12. Henning Says:

All PS3’s except the 40GB one, yes.
