This is my second in my series of “5″ articles that I’m doing every day this week. In each, I discuss a list of 5 things. Yesterday, I discussed 5 ways to connect your PS3. Today I’ll settle back into something more unoriginal, and choose 5 must-have PS3 titles. I will not, however, restrict myself to launch titles! And I reserve the right to be completely crazy in my choices!
- Resistance: Fall of Man
If you are suprised to see this game on this list, then I don’t know what you’ve been doing with yourself over the last half-year. Is this the first time on the internet since the PS2 launch? At any rate, this FPS simply looks awesome. It has some great level design (from what we’ve seen so far), great weapons (definitely from what we’ve seen so far), gameplay, and graphics. I don’t think you can go wrong buying this game. It even has a local co-op mode! - MotorStorm
All the things I just said about Resistance apply to this game as well. Except, well, it isn’t a FPS. It’s a racing game. And what a racing game! It looks to change off-road racing like Star Wars changed special effects. The only big question in my mind about this game is: does it support split-screen multiplayer? - DMC4
To be honest, I only included this game in the list because Gary seems so enamoured with it. If I didn’t include it, I’m sure he’d quit in protest and I’d never be able to read his prosaic prose again. (Sorry Gary – just kidding. I just kinda liked how “prosaic prose” sounded, and haven’t gotten a chance to use it. Your posts are anything but prosaic.) Anywho. In this game you play some Dante character with a couple “issues”. I guess. I don’t really know much about this game, but Gary says it looks really really good!
- Assassin’s Creed
Hey – I never said I’d stick with PS3 exclusive titles! But this game looks just so cool. Do a search here for this game and you’ll find links to all sorts of cool videos. You’ll understand what I’m talking about when I say that I think this game will redefine gaming. - MGS4
Metal Gear Solid 4. Need I say more? Evidently, I do, because last time I said that about Metal Gear I got it up one side and down the other. But hey, it’s my choice. I can’t say I really like the look of those stupid zomby elephant-leg things (It’s a machine! It’s alive! It squeels like a pig!). But I can forgive them that, considering how cool the rest of this game looks.
(Okay, so I didn’t go completely crazy. But I did trust Gary for choice #3. That’s a little crazy, isn’t it?) Anway, that’s it! Agree? Disagree? Feel free!

There are too many good games in the pipe, somehow the restriction of picking only five seems unfair to me
Nice list anyhow
ps you were up early, this post wasn’t here about 30 minutes ago

*googles prosaic prose*
Hmm quite an accurate description of a lot of my posts!
First you anonymously rate my posts 1 star out of 5 and then you throw some truly hurtful insults at my direction in a number of posts…
I might have to take a leave of absence from here for a little while to recover fro such nasty insults.
Here are MY 5 must have PS3 titles:
1. DMC4. I’m a massive DMC fanboy & although Dante seems to have been pushed to one side it still looks & plays (from what I’ve seen) like DMC so it’s a must have for me.
2. Assassin’s Creed. Looks awsome. I’ve always been a big admirer of those crazy Free Running guys so to be able to do that in a game and assassinate people as you go along has got me very excited plus it looks gorgeous aswell!
3. Resident Evil 5. Resi 4 breathed new life into the series so if they use a similar camera angle as Resi 4 but powered by the PS3….
Plus Chris Redfield looks to be returning as the star once again.
4. Heavenly Sword. This game really does offer some fantastic looking combat. I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen so far. Bring it on!
5. MGS4. Will Snake die? Why was there a younger looking Snake at the end of the TGS trailer? Will it be the last MGS game? I need these questions answered and the only way to do that is to complete the game. I also love the MGS series anyway so that may have something to do with it making my top 5.
There’s a few more games I could’ve mentioned but Henning has forbidden me from doing so. The bully!

Don’t know what you’re talking about Gary. I think that was Tom rating your posts with one star, not me!

So you and Tom are working together to tarnish my reputation!
Criminal masterminds hatching devious plots to ridicule me.
Where’s Spider-man (spelt it correctly this time
) when you need him!

Mmm… you’ve been drinking too much sake.
Oh, and it’s “Spider-Man”.

I can’t beleive their is no mention of Final Fantasy.
Good list. I am not so high on Resistance at the moment as I have read things here and there that may kill RFOM for me. I will wait for a review.
Motorstorm, RE5, AC are all high on my list of must own titles. MGS4 and some of the other titles only slightly interest me at the moment. MGS has just gotten old for me, although they are still great games. I just grew tired of playing a “movie” and really hated all of the long cut-scenes.
The one thing I am waiting on for almost all of my purchases anymore is reviews. The internet does a great job of hyping games and I just don’t believe it anymore. Metacritic is a great site I use to see what everyone who is worth a crap is saying about a game. Usually the reviews start to come out even before the game is released.

My list would be…
1. MGS4
2. GT5 (the real deal, not HD)
3. FF13
4. RE5
5. GTA4
That pretty much sums it up, why I buy a PS3 and no 360, as this list contains 3 full exclusives (not “exclusive” like in 360/PC exclusive).
I just hope, there’ll be again 3 real FFs (never played XI, as I was no MMO player, till WoW hit me, but I quit, and I am proud of it) and at least 2 real GTs (and some prequels) AND my hopes are not yet diminished, another REAL Snake MGS after 4.
Then, there are those games, which I am going to get rented or buy used, like a Fifa or NHL (I am a big Mighty Ducks fan, but the time shift is pretty much diminishing my “live view” of those games)…
As I just came to notice, my list ONLY includes sequels. I am usually no friend of things like this, but in this case, it can be surely said, that these games will ROCK. Other games, like AC or Motorstorm (the abbrev. MS just doesnt seem right
) will surely get inside my console at launch, I think.
