PS3 Pre-Orders
Toys R Us had their big PS3/Wii preorder day today. Reports are scattered across the web. It sounds like a lot of people eagerly camped out overnight in tents.

Apparently, not only were people camped out overnight for the PS3 and the Wii, but for some new Elmo doll? I understand camping out for a new game console, but an Elmo doll?!?!

Congratulations again to those who managed to secure a pre-order. I admire the dedication of people who actually camped at stores. Personally, I can’t do that kind of thing. I’ll wait until January or February when supply will hopefully be easier to come by.

I wonder how many units Europe will receive on launch day. Anyone remeber how many PS2 on day one?

I went there this morning at 9 am. Didn’t think there’d be too big a line in my area. I was wrong. I was 23rd in line, and the store didn’t open till 11am. I said screw it, and went home. On average each store was gonna get 25 Wiis and 15 PS3s. I was going to pre-order both, but I wanted to get a PS3 because I’ll have other chances to get one of the 6mil Wiis before 2007. Doubt I’ll get a PS3 till late spring now though.

I got there the day before at 10:30 am. I was 7th in line. And they only 3 PS3’s (two 60Gb, one 20GB), that’s such ****. So I got a Wii and 2 Elmo dolls to sell on eBay. God I’m so pissed, only 3 PS3’s, com on!!!!!!!!!!

That’s pretty bad. Toys ‘R’ Us is such a big store, I would have expected them to get more than three.

I was planning on getting in line, but by the time I got there, the line was HUGE, and there were only 2 out of about 25 people waiting for elmo. They said they werent getting but 10 PS3s and no one could preorder both, but since everyone was opting for the ps3 over the wii (which is presumed to be easier to attain) there was no point in me joining the line. Sucks.
The closer it gets to launch, the more I think i should just wait until after launch. After all, there will be any concrete lines for post launch shipments, since they arent as widely known.

In my area, Saturday morning was clear. At about 12 noon, folks started lining up. By Sunday morning, there was a line of about 25 people.
As for myself, camping it out it shall be. I am looking at 48 hours minimum, and have everything I need. Expect a segment on camping out 101 soon

God, camping out for a games console. Its so depressing.
Don’t these people have lives? I mean come on. Next time anyone who turns up on the day preorders are given out should be entered into a lottery for a pre order. Or fight to the death.

I bet that most of the people who actually camp overnight kind of like doing it. It’s almost like a public ritual for some people.
