PSOne Downloads in Japan Today |

PSOne game downloads will begin in Japan today. You’ll be able to download the games and then transfer them to your PSP for play. (No, you won’t be able to play them on the PS3 just yet.) These games will be available for 525 yet, or about $5 (I think).

Resident Evil Director’s Cut (Capcom)
Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol.1 (Konami)
Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol.2 (Konami)
Bishi Bashi Special (Konami)
Arc the Lad (SCEJ)
Jumping Flash! (SCEJ)
Hot Shots Golf 2 (SCEJ)
Silent Bomber (Bandai Namco Games)
Tekken 2 (Bandai Namco Games)

Personally I don’t care too much about playing PSOne games on my PSP, but for other people that may be a cool way to relive the past. Thoughts?

PlayStation Downloads Start on 11/22

    xBerserker has some R:FoM skillz…

About the PSP downloads, I was debating about this yesterday, I wonder if the emulatoin software is run off the PS3 and then video is streamed to the PSP? Or is the software run on the PSP?

Because if only the video is streamed for play on the PSP, that means I cant play my PSOne game away from my PS3… and at the same time I cant play it on my PS3, which is awkward and inconvenient.

I would also like to clarify that I let my neighbor (its his internet…) play my R:FoM, and thats why my CSheet has wayyy more deaths than kills 😉

  • Thanks, your not bad yourself Kamesen!

I believe you’ll be able to download the PS1 games to the PSP memory stick. I want to play Metal Gear Solid & Final Fantasy 7 on my PSP at least 😀

  • Kamesen, the software is run on the PSP. One of the additions to the PSP with the 3.0 firmware upgrade was the emulator for the PSOne downloads- no worries. Now they just need to get those downloads over here!

  • No kidding, Kamesen! xBerserker was at the top of the list! I got creamed in comparison. I was 13th in that deathmatch, but I was only that high because so many people were entering and leaving the game.

Afterwards I tried another game of capture the flag, but the level was WAY too big. I had a problem, though. I sniped someone from really far away using the Longview, but it didn’t kill him. I shot him three times before he moved out of scope, and he didn’t die.

Man I wish I could blast Henning with a freaky space laser gun! So unfair! FPS are not my favourite genre but I will be up for some online crazyiness when I get my PS3 next year.

I absolutfreakinglutely can’t wait for this. FFT, FF7, FF8, FF9 on my portable PSP will be a dream come true. I’m very excited about this.

xB, did you try using the headset yesterday? Because I sure didn’t hear anybody talking. And also, as you might have noticed, I tried making a Party with you gentlemen, but it didnt seem to work. It just gave me an error message. Maybe the Party functionality isnt working…

  • i’m excited about this. i have a DS lite, not a PSP, but being able to play PS1 games on the go makes me far more likely to get a PSP as well!

  • I tried by didn’t seem to work. Then is something simple I’m missing. I read in the sony forums that in the staging area you press L3 then you can use your bluetooth headset in the game, just talk when you want, no button needed. I have not tried this yet though.

Ya, I noticed that to about the party. One thing it could be is when you enter in names sometimes it puts a space after it, maybe it doesn’t like that. I think I sent a party invite and it worked ok. I’ll try it again next time I’m on.

  • I love Jumping Flash! Can’t wait til its available in the states. However having a ps3 to do this concerns me. Since they are so hard to find.

I remember at TGS Phil said if you have a PSOne disk you dont have to buy the game you can just use that. I haven’t heard anything since then about using your own disk to play PSOnePSP games. I hope they still go that route
