Virtua Fighter 5 Import Review |

C& has reviewed the Japanese version of Virtua Fighter 5 and to get to whether it’s a quality game or not, they gave it 9.1 out of 10. The following quote sums up what they think of it:

This is a true technical marvel of a PS3 title, a game that defines what ‘next-gen’ should stand for. And it’s all thanks to the arcade work of Sega’s AM-2 division that we have this picture-perfect PS3 conversion to talk about.

So it’s good then. ๐Ÿ˜† There is no online play which is disappointing and the SIXAXIS doesn’t seem to best suited to VF5 but they liked the game a hell of a lot despite a few niggling issues and the lack of online play. Click the link below for the full review. Surely the Western version will have online play?

Japanese Import Review of Virtua Fighter 5

no online play. i thought everyone knew that.

  • Yeah but the issue here is whether the Western version will have online play?

  • luke

i meant western. i got my EGM right here. they gave 9.5 10 and 9.5.

  • Yeah no online play at all. Seems to be getting top marks then.

I don’t see how a fighting games can be fun online because of the network latency. So I am sure we will not miss much… This is more enjoyable playing with friends all in the same room, the good old way ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, this game was rated very good in my latest EGM mag. I might just have to pick this one up because i don’t have any fighting games right now, except for Soul Calibur II……wait a minute, i might just have to play some Soul Calibur on my PS3 with wireless sixaxis controllers ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Just fyi, the 360 version also has no online play iirc. It was AM2s decision, to drop it, since a game like VF needs perfect pings to work like intended which is often not doable online (I mean, you would have to block all “over 100ms ping guys” out off online VF which is not really nice).

But still, I liked VF4 Evo pretty much. Very nice graphics and not too dumbed down controls (like Tekken or MK, imho).

About MK though, I hope they put the UE3 to really good use. Imagine MK with GeoW graphics, were only 2 guys are on screen! That would be MASSIVE!! Thankfully the UK is also PAL Region, so importing an uncut version is no problem!
