Mercs 2 on PS3 and Xbox 360 | PS3Blog.net
One of the worst kept secrets for me, was that Mercs 2 would be on the PS3 and 360, despite some people still holding on to the belief that it would be a PS3 exclusive game. This is mainly because no other versions were announced except for the PS3 but Mercs 2 is the most obvious multiplatform game ever. Well it’s finally been confirmed today by Pandemic’s Senior Producer Jonathan Zamkoff who spoke to IGN.com:
You know, honestly I’m not really sure of the minds of the EA executive that signed this. Mercenaries, across the board, has the buzz that it’s going to be a top ten title on the PS3 and on the Xbox 360 as well.
Glad that’s finally out in the open then. On to the stuff that matters; the game. Both versions of the game will future online co-op with no version being any worse or better off than it’s rival:
To give you a sense, we are trying to give feature parity for the 360 and the PS3. We have no intention to provide one feature for one system that the other one doesn’t have. So, yes, both consoles will have cooperative multiplayer — online cooperative multiplayer.
There isn’t going to be any online versus multiplayer fun but I’m going to be interested in trying out that online co-op play. Army of Two uses a similar system, although the entire game is built around 2 player co-op. Still good to see neither the PS3 or 360 is favoured over the other.
All 3 characters from the previous Mercs game are making a return alongside a new un-named 4th character. It’s scheduled for a Fall 2007 release so hopefully I will have my PS3 by then as DMC4 is also scheduled for a Fall 2007 release. 😯
It’s a good read so check out the full interview at IGN.com
