Sony put the hammer on the rumor

“At this time that’s simply not true. We have not made any decision with regards to distribution for Warhawk, which is due out this fall.
DId they leave a little wiggle room? Sure, but I hear that’s more about leaving room for any eventuality than because they think the game is going that route. The fact is that right now the early version of the game is playable on a disc. Brian Crecente”

Tom, you’re right. I reread and the 1UP guy is claiming new info.

However, the rumors from last month did say Warhawk was going to be an online store download rather than a retail game.

Gamespot said: “Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus that Warhawk has been canned or sent to the PlayStation Store.”

Maybe the rumors are right. We will see soon enough.

No Darrin, this *is* a new one.

The original rumour suggested the game had been cancelled, something refuted by Jaffe who said that although the game had been through its fair share of development hell (but not necessarily more so than any other title) and that we should still expect playable Warhawk at some point. The development team also released a comment to the effect that rumours of the game’s cancellation were false.

He even finishes by saying that he’s off to play it at Incog. I’d imagine that as a major journo off to play test the game he has slightly more info then we do!

The good news is that we will see this updated Warhawk within the next two weeks or so.

This is the exact same rumor from a month ago. There haven’t been any new developments or further anonymous tips, this is just more commentary on an old rumor.

Both Sony and David Jaffe have earlier said that this rumor is bogus. I’m inclined to believe them over this kind of rumor. Regardless, newer builds of the game with more official info will be shown at GDC
