I can tell you this…..By the time Sony is finished updating or patching the PS3, it will have more functionality than any other console ever dreamed of.

Well as Blu ray becomes cheaper there would be no reason not to get the better picure quality, especially for your favorite movies. Also think about when a TV show releases a season, no more multi-disc crap… put it all on 1 Blu-Ray disc!

As I now have a new pc, which also supports component out, I had the chance to test upscaled DVDs and I am AMAZED!

Really, this is a big difference to the PS2 (also via component) as I dont have any other means of playing DVDs over component (only my Laptop via VGA out, but strangely, it does look less good than via component).

I think, Sony really needs to do this (I still hope, I will be under the first 500k people getting their PS3, preorder is done, shop opens 23rd on 600hrs to get Casino Royale), many DVDs (namely Sin City, Pirates of the Carribean or Terminator 2 REALLY profit from it).

HDMI really makes DVDs more crisp on my LCD even at 480p. I’ve missed upscaling since I moved my 360 into my room. The living room where the PS3 is could use that feature.

Upscaling DVD player. That’s awesome. I’ve liked the way the PS3 displayed DVD’s but upscaling it would be great. I don’t know what an upscaler costs, and I believe the 360 has a chip already, but this is a nice little surprise. I’m actually getting more pleased with the PS3 of late. VF5 is very nice. I’ve just gotten to the frustrating matches where I’ve actually lost ranking because i’ve been beaten by the higher ranked players.
