I personally wouldn't buy a game that's online-centric (like MMORPG). What if it turns out to be unpopular and they close the server for such a game? I'd rather have a solid single player (or offline multiplayer, preferrably co-op) game and I prefer a game that I don't simply download off the web like Steam.

yeah, but what I described was a just-in-case type deal, if, in fact, single player is singled out. But if the demand for single player was high enough after the release, then, well, you never know. I wish devs were a little more open with information

James, the multiplayer mode you describe is much more of what I'd like to see. Although, I don't like the idea of a single-player downloadable add-on. Great single-player games are designed that way from the ground up, not as a downloadable afterthought.

maybe a single player campaign will be a downloadable addition in the future?

In any case, I feel the best online flight game would be an Ace Combat game, with two types of modes, skirmish(?) and war, where skirmish would be like a 'Squadron a vs Squadron b' type of deal, while war would be an open, very large battlefield, something like an MMO of sorts. To make it the best game, though, you'd need a create-a-squadron, kinda like clans. You can customize the paint schemes and whatnot that distinguish one squadron from another (with customized logos to boot). Also would be how to grow a squadron. Earnings would be based on strength of the aircraft vs opposing aircraft. For instance, if you only have an F4 and you take down an F-22, you'd earn more money to buy more planes as opposed to an F-22 taking out a F4. I think you get what I mean.

Amazing visuals but I'm still not seeing anything that just flat out blows 360 out of the water. I was expecting the difference between the two systems to be similiar to the difference between PS3 and Xbox; only with PS3 on top this time. As far as Warhawk, I can't believe it's multiplayer only. I really enjoyed the single player play of the game on PS1. Guess I'll have to hold out for the end of the year releases.

It's unlikely tio be a full-priced game, it would kill the games chances. I look forward to seeing more. I agree with darrin though, a planetside like game would have been better. This has intrigued me though, it looks better then any other online flight fighter, so I look forward to it. It's also very smooth considering all that's going on on-screen.
