Although it is no "gamers" conference, it is a big industry event (the biggest electronics event worldwide afaik), where many many people show new stuff (often, ATI and NVIDIA present their new chips there, this year, they dont). I will be there next friday, I hope I can get good news there (got some good connections to Sun and Bosch, dunno of that'll help though). As a University Student you always have the leverage of being "new to things" that they want to show you ^^. Big companys always like students!! There still is Cebit next week.

GDC is basically a conference for developers to talk about the future of game design. Sony's announcements only fit into that since game will be build around. LittleBigPlanet barely fit into GDC but since it was focused on user created content. That is one of the major annoying things with some sites and G4TV.
