PS3 to include P2P Network

A “rumor” is going around that home will have a P2P Network. If it’s true you can stream your media to other PS3 users within Home. We already know that Sony owns Grouper. They mentioned in the home trailer that you’ll be able to access Grouper videos within Home. If you don’t know what Grouper is, it’s basically like YouTube. Just a little different.
Remember how you can place a TV in your apartment and place any video on it that’s on your hard drive. And then the picture frame where you can load any photo you wish that’s stored on your PS3. I wonder how many TV’s & picture frames you can place in your apartment. I’m excited to customize my personal apartment

Setup: I think that unless you have your PS3 on, nobody else can enter your room.
Dunk: What happens when you’re in a game? Can someone still enter your room? If they do, will they see you sitting there playing a game? They could talk to you using text or voice chat, if Sony decides to finally implement this stuff in-game. Wouldn’t that be cool?

I was wondering that to Henning, it would be sweet if it works that way.

Sony owns Grouper, but it is not compatible with the PS3 browser.
Maybe in a few months …

A P2P network will probably be used in the same way as Joost and Veoh, not to stream media to other users.

Didn’t Phil H. adress this issue at the last GDC.
Something about own pictures on the wall, and own videoclips on your Bravida..?
Its thats true, and with the Ps Eye, we’re in for some nasty homes this fall

Yea the GDC talked about this.
If you have videos, music or photos running in your home. Other users can see and hear them when they are in your room.
I also remember an after GDC keynote interview where Phil said your own room isn’t a persistent world. So it doesn’t exist unless your in it. Maybe in the future they will change that but for now it’s just used as a staging area. So if someone is in your room and you launch into the game they will either join you in game or get booted out of your place.
