PS3 SingStar – 350 Songs

The latest news out of the SingStar PS3 offices is that the game will have 360 songs upon launch. What the…? 350 songs? Surely, most asuredly, this must mean the included songs plus the songs that’ll be available for download, right? I can’t imagine a game shipping with 350 songs.

The game is “nearly finished” and will ship “this summer”. Though that’s probably a European release date, from what I can gather. Nothing yet on a North American release date. Nothing yet, either, on what downloadable songs will cost.

PS3 SingStar inspired by “mass customisation”, says Bozek

    350 song on one BD?
Guess it could be done, Singstar PS2 has 30 songs on one dvd…?

However, according to norwegian news-site VG.no, there will only be 30 songs..:

Blink 182: All The Small Things
    Blur: Coffee & TV
    Britney Spears: Toxic
    Coldplay: Fix You
    Gorillaz: Feel Good Inc.
    Gwen Stefani: Cool
    Junior Senior: Move Your Feet
    Macy Gray: I Try
    Musical Youth: Pass The Dutchie
    Ne-Yo: So Sick
    Orson: No Tomorrow
    OutKast: Hey Ya
    Primal Scream: Movin’ On Up
    Pussycat Dolls: Beep
    Radiohead: No Surprises
    Razorlight: America
    REM: Losing My Religion
Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman: Something Stupid
Scissor Sisters: I Don’t Feel Like Dancing
    Supergrass: Alright
    The Automatic: Monster
    The Cardigans: Lovefool
    The Fratellis: Chelsea Dagger
    The Killers: Mr Brightside
The Stone Roses: She Bangs The Drums
    The Zutons: Valerie
Twisted Sister: We’re Not Gonna Take It
    U2: Beautiful Day
    Weezer: Buddy Holly
    Wolfmother: Love Train

They also report that over 300 songs will be ready for download from launchday, with new content every month..

Releasedate ? 29.06.07 (Europe). Can’t find any US release..

It’s a BD with 30ish songs and the store with a little over 300. If you see all the songs Singstar has already produced overseas it is easy to see how they got to the 300 mark.

It could be done, on my computer, I have 634 songs at 4.7 GB. But I guess with a video, it is more, but a Blu-Ray Disc is pretty big.

I can’t wait for Sing-Star though. Though I am a rapper, I like to sing R&B too, like maybe some Outkast, or any other artist.

That 350 is probably mostly downloadable songs that cost extra.

I definitely won’t play this (not the singing type), but my girlfriend will love it, and I can’t wait!

It has been confirmed there will be around 30 (HD!!!) songs/videos on the disc (not 300!!!) and around 300-350 songs for download on an iTunes-style “SingStore” from day 1.

Songs downloaded from there will be saved onto the PS3 hard drive.

The songs should cost £1.49 (about 2.18 euros or $2.94)

Sony also plan to put on around 50 songs per month, increasing to 100 songs per month eventually, focusing on “total variety”.

The cheapest I have found the game (pounds sterling, sorry americans) is £34.89 on sendit.com (http://www.sendit.com/game/item/6000000003882). The release sate on that site is 30/06/07.

    Wohoo!

    P.S
if the cost of songs seems too much, Sony should be offering ‘SongPacks’, about 5-10 songs for a cheaper price, organised into stuff like ‘The best of David Bowie’, ‘top RnB tunes’ etc.
