Every once in a while I take a look at the list of release dates for PS3 software that IGN compiles, and I tabulate the games that I’m interested in. (Note of course, that you really have to take this list with a grain of salt, because anything more than a few days out usually gets delayed, especially games from Ubisoft.) Here’s the list of (2007) games I’m interested in, with question marks by the games that I’m unsure of.
August:
GRAW2
Medal of Honor: Airborne
September:
Assassin’s Creed
Heavenly Sword
Burnout Paradise
Home
DiRT ?
Warhawk
October:
Army of Two
Monster Madness ?
Singstar
November:
Guitar Hero III
Rock Band
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune ?
SOCOM: Confrontation ?
TBA 2007:
Call of Duty 4
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars ?
Joust ?
Killzone PS3
Note that there’s nothing I care about until August, and it’s the middle of May now. Grrrr….
Edit:
The good news is, that when I looked at IGN’s Xbox 360 list, I couldn’t find anything I wanted (that wasn’t on the PS3), outside of Halo 3.

No Lair? No Little Big Planet Demo?

Lair for some reason doesn’t interest me at all.
LBP isn’t listed as a 2007 game. (I was looking at 2007 games – I’ll edit the post.)

LBP is a 2008 game..but the actual demo where we can start to create some levels is September if I remember correctly.

Where’s The Darkness and Ninja Gaiden? Or GTA4? R&C? Mercs 2? Folklore?
Are you seriously looking forward to Joust? You can play that for free on a million websites.

Interesting slant on lists. It’s always nice to see a personal take on what games are promising. But why’d you have to throw in a jab at the 360? I mean the same comment could be reversed on the PS3. I certainly couldn’t find anything on that list that I wanted that wasn’t on the 360. At this point game a pretty much coming out on all the consoles and I for one think we should encourage that.
The game I’m most excited about on that list would have to be KillZone… though I hated the original so I’m not entirely sure why. I am curious to see why everyone raves about Heavenly Sword so much. It seemed to be the only positive back at last years E3 for Sony, but it looks like a pretty typical game if you ask me. I’m thinking I’ll understand it a little better once I can actually get some play time with it. Perhaps a demo would be a good idea for the game.

Darrin: R&C is single player, but looks cool. I might give it a rental. I don’t care about The Darkness, GTA4, Ninja Gaiden, Mercs 2, or Folklore.
JS: Why the jab at the 360? Well, it wasn’t a jab so much as a look at the other side of the fence. I want to know that I made the correct choice buying a PS3. If I see a bunch of games I want on a competing platform, and not so many on my own, I’d have second thoughts about having bought the correct console. Just because I have a PS3 blog doesn’t mean I won’t go out and buy a 360 the moment I think it would be a better gaming investment. But for now, I’m safe.

The only game I would add to the list is EA NHL 2008. This series is very fun to play with friends and I looking forward to experience it in HD on PS3.

Really isn’t jack coming out on anything till September. As a owner of all 3 consoles I still can’t find anything coming up I want till then.
However I am interested in Lair, Darkness, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Army of 2, GTA4, Folklore and Getaway 3 along with what’s on your list also.
On my 360 I’m interested in Bioshock, Mass effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, maybe Halo3.
On the Wii i’m interested in Metriod 3, and Mario at the end of the year.
So Other then Lair, Ninja Gaiden and Metriod, This is a dry summer for me.

Madden 08 sounds like a must buy so far. How could you not be interested in Lair? Rainbow six is no slouch either. Is the Getaway coming this year cuz it may give GTA a run for its money.

I wouldn’t put any money on getaway this year but it’s listed as November 11th on EBgames. Probably a placeholder though
