If you didn’t know it already, the upcoming rock ‘n’ roll game, Rock Band, will support Guitar Hero controllers. But you will not be getting the full Rock Band experience using them. Unfortunately, there’s no word on whether or not that support will extend to the PS2′s GH controller playing Rock Band on the PS3. Ah well.
IGN got to interview the Harmonix folks about Rock Band, but unfortunately their screenshots were not of gameplay. Just the useless pics of some badly rendered rockers.
In case you’ve been too busy playing Warhawk to realize it, Rock Band is a new game by Harmonix, the creators of Frequency, Amplitude, Karaoke Revolution, GH1, and GH2. Some awesome games there. Rock Band will have peripherals for guitar, bass, drums, and voice. I assume the guitar peripheral for the bass will be the same as that for guitar, and I certainly hope that’s the case, but I may be mistaken. You’ll be able to play through the whole game with just one instrument, but there’s be extras there for you if you toss things up a bit.
Interestingly, online is quite important for the Harmonix folks, and they’ll have “hundreds” of songs online for download. Let’s hope they’ll be affordable! And I’m personally hoping that some Luca Turilli makes it into the game!
(I think his first two albums were great, but his third one was pretty bad. Anyone care to disagree? Oh, and his new band Dreamquest is great too.)

I am just wondering how would the ‘drum’ controller be like…2 sticks? because I am a drummer and it would suck if we had to use the regular controller or something.

My #1 wish for Rock Band: Support for real MIDI keyboards. I know about Synthesia for PC (formerly Piano Hero), but I want the real thing. If they do that I will flip!
Regardless Rock Band sounds truly amazing. This fall will be the biggest season ever for games.
