Yet Another PS3 Game Delayed for Europe

After Play.com and Amazon.co.uk changed their listings for the PS3 version of The Darkness to July 22nd and July 20th respectively, 2K Games has confirmed to Eurogamer that the PS3 version of The Darkness has been put back until July 20th in Europe.

No reason is given for the delay of the PS3 version in Europe but it’s getting very annoying as it’s not the first time this has happened to an EU PS3 game. Spider-Man 3, Calling All Cars, Rainbow Six: Vegas and GRAW 2 are just a few PS3 games that have been put back for various reasons. The latter 2 aren’t available in NA yet either.

At least RSV is finally being released this Friday in the UK despite it initially being a PS3 launch title.

Importing is not an option in most cases as a lot of games don’t have global servers meaning I won’t be able to play with/against my friends, not to mention I trade in any unwanted games to help fund new purchases and very few retailers take imported games.

I really am puzzled why the PS3 version is delayed yet the 360 version goes ahead as normal. Rumours seem to point towards BBFC approval problems but if that’s the case, why is the 360 version cleared?

Oh :( I thought it was already out when I saw the preview cases in Blockbuster yesterday :(

Yep i agree not the best publicity for PS3 and at the moment it could do without any more negative press. It’s annoying that it was decided only a few days before release surely they could have told everyone earlier!

Hopefully by the end of the year this should be sorted and release dates will be more secure and communicated clearly

Once all the bumps from the beginning are ironed out, there wont be too many delays anymore… At least I hope so (esp. for Global Releases, when the US and Jap games are already done)

I have a hard time believing that Segitz. Europe is traditionally beaten with the delay/un-released stick 95% of the time when it comes to games.

I would like to know why The Darkness has been delayed on the PS3 yet the 360 is released over here as planned.

    Bizarre.

    Everything gets delayed.

    I remember when I posted this: http://www.ps3blog.net/2006/11/16/top-10-titles-for-q1-2007/

Out of those ten titles I was super excited about for Q1 2007, nine out of ten of those not only missed Q1, but missed Q2 as well.

Don’t you Europeans at least get SingStar in July?

Delay, Delay, Delay! Isn’t it FUN waiting?!…. Stupid fools shouldn’t even bother with the stupid date unless its going to happen.

It’s probably a localization delay. Meaning, translation approvals and such. Don’t take it so hard. ;)

    Says:

Yeah Gary, I know I know (thats why I usually imported from the US)

But since the PAL/NTSC problem is not anymore with HD, I can still hope, this gets ironed out, especially with BDROM and all voices on one disc!
