Rock Band Pricing?

GameStop has released pricing for the upcoming game Rock Band. Of course there has been no official confirmation. That would be silly. And GameStop has a history of being wrong on stuff like this, so take it with a grain of salt:

  • Rock Band Bundle (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) – $199.99
The Rock Band Bundle for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 includes: Rock Band the game, wireless guitar, drums and microphone.
  • Rock Band Game (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) – $59.99
  • Rock Band Drum Set (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) $79.99
  • Rock Band Microphone (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) – $29.99
  • Rock Band Wireless Fender Guitar Controller (PlayStation 3) – $59.99
  • Rock Band Wireless Fender Guitar Controller (Xbox 360) $79.99

Why does the PS3 guitar controller cost $20 less than the 360 one? I hope it’s because the 360 one uses Microsoft’s proprietary stuff instead of standard Bluetooth like the PS3 one.

SEGA Rally Preview and Interview

The news is all about racing today, with news of the MotorStorm patch and also about SEGA Rally for the PS3, 360, PC, and PSP. GameIndustry.biz did an interesting interview about SEGA Rally, and it looks like the 360 and PS3 versions will be identical:

We’re very happy – the game looks identical on both platforms; the feature-set is exactly the same. We’ve sat them side by side and you’re really hard-pushed to tell the difference. I think that’s a testament to where you are with both platforms. The learning curve with PlayStation 3 is steeper, but once you’re there the opportunities are very exciting.

First Impressions – SEGA Rally

Hm. I didn’t see any mention of splitscreen…

[Update 1:
I later looked for splitscreen support, and in other press releases it says that it'll be there.]

[Update 2: SEGA Rally was developed first for the PS3, then ported to other platforms.]

Motorstorm 1.2 patch is out for North America

The patch includes a new Time Attack mode. And it fixes Stability issues, glitches with boost, SD text cut-off, online performance and surround sound glitches. You can now have 50 friends in your game’s buddy list. I wonder if I have that many, lol. I just keep accepting every buddy invite I get. I need to trim my buddy list down. I have way to many. On a side note, I think it would be nice option on the XMB to see the last time somebody in your buddy list logged onto the PSN. And I thought there was going to be a new track as well, or am I thinking wrong?

It’s very important to update the game first. Just launch Motorstorm and you’ll be prompted to download the update. Then download the update from the PS Store.

PS3 will have 380 games by March 2008 [Update]

Currently there are about 60 software titles and 50 download-only titles available for the PS3. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) President Kazuo Hirai has promised that there will be 380 games by March 2008. There will be 200 retail titles and 180 PlayStation Network games.

I think this fall will be big for the PLAYSTATION 3, lots of great new games, Home, big upgrades to the XMB, etc. If this many games do come out by March 2008, then the PS3 will have to problem selling worldwide.

380 PS3 Games by March 2008

[Update]

It looks like the 380 games is a international figure. Games released in the North America market will be at least 145 during the fiscal year, it doesn’t count games released since last March. So 105+ retail games, and 40 PSN games. No word on the numbers for Europe, but I would think it would be similiar.

The number of first-party titles announced for fiscal 2007 stands at 15, including Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, LAIR, Little Big Planet, Eye of Judgment, and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Third-party titles currently scheduled for fiscal 2007 include Coded Arms: Assault, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

PS3 Firmware 1.81 – Better PS2 BC

I have a certain game that my friend Steve and I like to play together. It’s actually a PS2 game, because the PS3 version doesn’t have any splitscreen support. (RANT! RANT! RANT! Friggin’ buggers. RANT!) I’m talking about my F1 racing game, of course. F1 2001 by EA Sports “It’s in the game!”.

Way back when, this game used to run just fine on my PS3. Somewhere along the way, though, it stopped working on my PS3, so then I had to pull out the good old PS2 in order to play. (I can’t wait for those days to be over.) After every firmware update I’d try this game again, to no avail.

Until firmware 1.81, that is. Now the game works again! Yay! This is great news for me, of course. Has anybody else noticed any games that work again or anew with the 1.81 update?
