Wilsones,

Stories and style are extremely subjective. I'm glad to hear your opinion although we clearly have different tastes.

I definitely sat through all the HL2 scripting from the very beginning to the very last levels of the game. And I definitely think it was total junk sci-fi. And I definitely think the Darkness writing was terrible as well (the voice acting was decent).

Resistance had a bland story. Not great or memorable fiction, it was just like pleasant background music which is far better than the boorish stuff in HL2 or Darkness.

Actually, Bioshock seems like something I would love, but I have yet to play it. It's heavily influenced by Atlas Shrugged which many people love and many others hate (I love it).

Graphics technology is typically less subjective. I'm more puzzled why Resistance is so blasted on this front. IMO, Resistance really excelled with the animation. All of the creatures just showed a large diversity of movement. The art style was mixed: some levels were dull while others were extremely well done.

How can you possibly think that The Darkness' plot hackneyed and stale? The writing is superb, the voice acting is some of the best I have EVER heard, and I never found a plot hole or cliched moment. It's plot is full of twists and had moments that had me completely surprised and shocked. Just killing gangsters and cops? Did you miss supernatural levels that take up half of the game? Did you not notice that you go to areas not at all in NYC? And saying that Half-Life 2's plot is dull and that "Most shooters have this junk sci-fi plot" is SO misinformed. Did you even watch the scripted moments? Are you one of those people who care only about action, and have no interest in story or character? Saying that the graphics in Resistance are incredible is ludicrous as well. It's already out-dated. The Darkness looks better, Half-Life 2 has a more interesting visual style, and both games have much better characters. At least in Half-Life 2 the character doesn't try to sound or look tough.

I wasn't bashing FEAR. I said it was nothing special but I'm still playing it right now. If it wasn't that good I wouldn't continue :D

I'm already on my 3rd playthrough of RFOM on the PS3 side.

I said nothing about FEAR simply because i played and beat both FEAR and the expansion pack (extraction point) on my PC. They were both excellent games !! :)
I just so happen to have most of the good PC games that are out right now, but my PS3 gets most of the gaming love now.

Looks like there is a good variety of opinions here, which is good to see.

No one is sticking up for F.E.A.R, but all the other titles have fans.

Comprehensive post Jax: yes, I read the whole thing.

With a limited set of FPS available on PS3, The Darkness stands out right after RFOM. The darklings as well as the different capabilities of the main character add to the overall dark athmo of the game. As much as i hated the demo, I really like the game. Can't do anything wrong and you even get a Flash Gordon episode for free ;-)

I read all your post and i have to say this...HL 2 was freakin awesome, but so is every game listed really. As far as multiplaer goes though, RFOM takes the cake easily, but here recently i have been playing some R6V and I'm kinda hooked. As far as Halo 3 looking and playing better than Killzone 2 (lol), i doubt it, but only time will tell.
