MotorStorm Splitscreen Petition

I can’t say that this petition is worded the best, but it gets the point across. If you want to add your name to a list of people who want splitscreen support in MotorStorm, then follow the link below. Currently the petition has almost 300 names, so it has a while to go before it gets Sony’s attention. My name’s on the list. Personally, I don’t think petitions really help any, but I figured that it definitely couldn’t hurt.

Splitscreen support should be free, and included in the game. But heck, at this point, I’d pay for it.

Hopefully, because this petition isn’t on a Sony forum like the last one, it won’t just disappear.

I wont sign that crap….If anyone worth their weight in salt paid attention, the developer said that they would address splitscreen in the sequel.

    Says:

Why do we need to petition this? It should only be natural for them to make an update on splitscreen or otherwise we boycott their games.

    Link?

    I’ve never seen that…

Part of the interview on why they didnt offer splitscreen…everyone needs to read and pay attention.

“Split-screen racing requires compromised visual/aural fidelity to accommodate multiple simultaneous views of the environment. For our PlayStation 3 debut, we elected to spend our entire processing/rendering budget on a single view, relying on the more compelling online experience to provide multiplayer thrills…”

I am looking for the one that says they would address it in the sequel.

Umm yeah what ^^^ this dude said is what I got from it and I bought the game knowing this fact.

    Says:

I don’t care if there are some compromises when running in splitscreen mode. It’s natural and expected. And worth it.

so you are saying that you would be happy with less detail and less textures and a slower framerate? It’s a catch 22…..you leave out splitscreen and people bitch…you put it in and they bitch that there are compromises. I’ll take online fullscreen to offline 1/4 screen anyday.

    Says:

    Don’t be obtuse.

Of course splitscreen will entail compromises. It always has. Even back on the PSOne splitscreen caused compromises. There’s no way around it – you now have four players screens’ geometries to render. But that doesn’t mean you can’t give the user a good experience.

And who said that it’s an either-or situation when it comes to online fullscreen and offline 1/4 screen? You can have a no-holds-barred fullscreen experience with all the graphical goodies, and also a slightly-reduced experience when playing splitscreen. I’ll take both, thank-you very much.

Did you just call me a fat triangle? Obtuse? lol. I guess you could say I am a solitary gamer. I’d rather play online co-op where each player has their own full screen…I guess you could chalk it up to bad split screen experiances such as too narrow of a field of vision when doing split screen, and I am a die hard physics fan, and most splitscreen games alter the physics engine for splitscreen.

  10. Vote -1 Vote +1  Darrin
    Says:

Realistically, only a minority of users care about split screen. It’s a completely valid request that is a must-have for some, but lots of people don’t value it, and it requires significant programming effort and compromises.

My personal wish is for more racing games to support force feedback steering wheels like the DFP. And that seems like it would be easy to program in, and doesn’t require any other compromises.

    Says:

If things werent wide screen now i would ask for it. Playing WarHawk split screen works but you tend to use the map way to much to be enjoyable. Compromises in graphics suck though, especially when the graphics on the PS3 are supposed to be the best out there. Well Iam kinda on the fence with the whole split screen stuff to be honest.

    Says:

Darrin, I agree with you 100% on the FFB issue. They dropped the ball on F1 by not including FFB. Sure the DFP works, but the wheel feels too light….I want to feel the curbs, holes, gravel, etc….

Thank goodness that DIRT has support for both FFB and the DFP.
