You could still inject something fresh to the gameplay elements while remaining true to the material. Just look at World War 2 games, there are TONS of ways to play what is essentially the same story. While I enjoyed the Dynasty Warriors games I have played, its still annoying that they game hasnt changed much. And I'm not asking them to do something completely different, I would be satisfied if they at least improved a substantive amount on whats there. Make the enemies smarter and a little less like standing soulless meat puppets waiting to die. Make the game feel a little less like I have to single handedly win it for my side. There is alot that could be improved without changing what makes the games enjoyable. I do know what it’s based on, but thats no excuse for the gameplay. They've been adding more and more battles every new games. They have new characters. I expect the PS3 version to be a signifcant upgrade.
