Everyone has there own expectations for the 2.00 firmware. In game XMB access, Home, upgraded web browser, better file management for games, movies, music and photos, wake up on LAN for remote play, etc. Home would make sense, because Sony said the open beta was coming late November / Early December.
Anyway in a post from Three Speech, there was a response from a Three Speech rep in the comments about the 2.00 Firmware.
9. Hmm.. I wonder when the 2.0 firmware update will show up. Hopefully this month! Strangely enough, it’s what I want the most.

I hope this is true.
Well Three Speech made a post about FW 2.00 and here it is ….
We are hearing whisperings that Firmware Version 2.0 will be released in the next couple of weeks and one rather nice feature will be the functionality that will allow you to turn on your PlayStation 3 using a PSP via remote play. Hold tight for further news…

Wow, as little as a year ago I remember thinking how Sony was so far behind in terms of letting their users know what was going on behind the scenes. The 360 had Major Nelson and they were usually pretty open about what was going on and what we could expect in the future. However lately the exact opposite seems to be true. I’ve spent the last month or two waiting to hear any “official” news on the 360s fall update and whether or not it will include the rumored Xvid support… MS has been completely silent on the issue. Major Nelson hasn’t made any response and for all I know the update could come tomorrow or just before the end of the year. Now it seems the rolls have been completely reversed. Now Sony’s got their new blog up that’s kept me fairly well informed on what they’re promoting… and I’ve got the wonderful v. 2.00 coming up with a relative time frame. I can’t wait. Way to go Sony.

The new firmware should be released before the launch of the DualShock 3. That’s November 11.
So I’m betting for November 8th or 9th.

I am wondering what will happen if there is no in game XMB access…It doesnt bother me because some games allow you to hit select and bring up your friends list anyways to invite friends…
And as far as custom soundtracks go, I think soundtracks make the game. I can’t see playing Resident Evil 5 while an R&B song plays..lol
( I hate R&B, just using that as reference)
