As you probably know, PAL PS3 owners couldn’t play the Uncharted demo that is on the NA PS Store, due to a bug.
Strangely, I was met with the black screen of doom when I tried the demo, not the “insert disc’ message. If you still want to try the demo before the game’s PAL launch then we still have 2 weeks to wait:
Sony Europe has confirmed that a playable demo of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, released on the US PSN Store yesterday, will hit UK PS3s on November 22.
I’m going to give the demo a miss now. I’m buying the game regardless, so when I play it, everything will be new and I won’t end up thinking “I’ve already done this on the demo”, like I did with R&C ToD.

The “insert disc” screen only comes up, if you don’t have a disc inserted!
I find this rather appalling, to be honest. Sony touted the “region free-ness” of its console, yet they regionalize their store… This is not very friendly of them in any way… What about all those US soldiers stationed in Germany, that have a german PS3 and cannot legally use their store (AFP addresses et al do not work)?
This is not the way to go!

I can still access the US Store and downloaded the themes and other demo which worked fine.
It’s just a bug with Uncharted and not a change in policy as far as I’m aware.
I had the FIFA 08 disc inside the PS3 during the download, installation and when I tried the demo, yet still got the black screen of torture.

Yeah, when there’s NO Disc inserted, the “insert disc” screen comes up…
I do not believe this “bug” stuff… A non chipped PS2 had NEVER any problems playing ANY US or Jp games EVER (swap trick), so why does a store demo have this now? This makes NO sense at all!
Yeah, I can access the store too, but if this becomes the norm (i.e. region locked demos), there’s no need anymore for it. The “bug” theory sounds too strange for me to believe it, really.
And, a US friend of mine says, the demo also give german subs et al! WTH. Even, when the XMB is set to german, it says “Drakes Schicksal”! They already localized it fgs!
I am not fed up, because I cannot play the demo, by no means, but I am fed up with Sonys attitude towards Europe!

Segitz, i think i’m starting to repeat myself but you are so absolutely right. It seems Sony doesn’t give a shit about us europeans, although the ps3 sells way better here then the 360! But maybe that’s exactly the problem. Maybe the gAys from SCEE think we’re already covered, so there’s no need to please us…

Let me tell you this atleast…..Uncharted is the awesome and a must buy, but the demo was kinda short so it would’t ruin any of the game for you

Also why did Europe get the eyetoy games and NA still doesn’t have them? I want them myself.

yeah, what is up with the eye software. Maybe they are expecting next week to be slow games week, and they are saving them for that.
I’ve got bored of EoJ all ready and it would be nice to get some more use out of the camera.

The joke about the Eye Toy stuff is, theres still no non bundled version of the PSEye yet, so the ones waiting are SOL, if they want it without EOJ

The non bundled eye is here in Canada. 39$ for just the camera or $69 with EoJ.
