SL33PY "More supported media = more potential = potentially more buyers?"

I can verify, that yes this is true. I just picked up my second PS3 today almost entirely because of this... adding Blu-Ray to the bedroom and a $319 price tag didn't hurt either.

This is awesome news. Alot of the movies on my PC are using divx codecs. and It will be nice to be able to get that streaming to my PS3 (since my vaio laptop is DLNA certified, they will see and communicate with eachother without issues).

@Rene, I agree, I have got enough inputs on my hi-fi to have both AppleTV and PS3. All I need is for the PS3 to bea ble to playback my purchased iTunes music and I'm happy.

I'm using TwonkyVision to stream photos and ripped CDs fro my Mac.

This is pretty sweet.

I'm surprised Sony didn't bypass Divx license and just go the xVid route since it's open source.

This means smoother, better looking xVid/Divx since no transcoding. Can also store them locally and take the PC out of it.

I think sony *has* divx compatible dvd players. But I also was not expecting this, because sony would have to pay for the DivX license, I guess. Anyway, will there be some subtitle support? If there is no subtitle support for srt's and sub's, it won't be much use to me (I am glad we have tversity, it was a bitch to set up but now I can stream avi files from my PC to PS3)
