Thank god you didn’t use VGCHARTZ!! Thank you!

Sales in Japan were no doubt helped by the PS3 bundled with Dynasty Warriors 6.

I DID IT. I Finally did it!!! I bought my PS3 2 days ago. I didn’t boot it up yet, to great disbelief of my co-workers.
I waited to get my PS3 until I had enough money to buy my FullHD-TV (KDL-40W3000). Because I want to see the games made for the PS3 in their full glory.
Am I a nutcase? Perhaps so…

In any case you have a nice ass TV there Sl33py.
And yes Gary, I think Sony should have hopped on the bundle and colors scheme a long time ago. Like Maybe Singstar in EU, and Heavenly Sword or Warhawk in the US. If they are really smart they would do a limited MGS4 and GT5 bundles also.
That France number is pretty huge for them. That’s like selling everything they sold in the US week of Nov 5th to just Texas.

The PS3 is really becoming a good deal this year, plenty of games, plenty of capabilities. Sony took their sweet time, but it’s nice to see things unfold.
Personally I dumped my DVD player definetely this week (replaced by the PS3), bought a bluetooth keyboard (replaced the PC for all mail stuff), and when DivX hits, I guess my HTPC will be gone too
TV + PS3 + HomeTheater Amp will now be serving most of my home electronics needs.
Next on the list: convenient folder systems for videos/music, *and* a music player that would have a PSP-like capacity of connecting to the PS3 and downloading stuff via the internet, but that would be sized like an ipod.

It’s also worth taking into consideration how much of an impact the new ads have had in NA.

Interesting… I almost helped with these numbers. I picked up a second PS3 for the bedroom to make a reasonable bedroom Blu-Ray/Divx player. Managed to nab a 40gig for $320 at Kmart thanks to the coupon posted on the net. Great deal at that price… comes with Spiderman and 5 free movies on top of that.
I’m gonna try and do a Linux install on this one, hopefully to stream some Tivo to it. That’s what my choice came down to… I was either going to get a new HD Tivo or a Divx console. Now since I’ve made my choice… I want to figure out the easiest way to get Tivo shows to on my PS3. I don’t really want to have to re-encode them all… so I hear it’s possible to stream them w/Linux. Should be an interesting few days.

Congrats SL33PY! You’ll have to tell us what you think once it’s up and running.

Grats, Sl33py! Definitely send in your impressions.
JimmyStewart, a second PS3? I thought you were a big 360 fan?
November 15th, 2007 at 9:21 am
Interesting part on the Japan numbers is that the 40 gig and DW6 did not launch until Sunday. That means only 1 day worth of sales are incorporated in the weekly number above. So basically next week should be even higher for japan since it will have 7 full days of sales instead of just one.

What can I say, 360 was WAY late to the game on this one… I’ve been dying for Divx support and so far they haven’t even confirmed if it’s coming to the 360. Sony at least stood up and announced it. Plus, I’ve been swapping over all my DVDs for Blu-Ray so having a bedroom Blu-Ray player is a plus. And again, a $320 price tag is really hard to argue with. The six free movies alone almost cover that expense.
Don’t get me wrong, if you make a post asking me which one I’ll be using for the most for gaming I’ll be singing a different tune. But when it comes to watching videos… it’s all about the PS3 for me.

That is awesome, however this also shows that the 360’s bump in japanese sales last week was just that, a bump. It’s back to normal numbers now. I am buying my one in january, and finally stop having to use my brothers out of town.
This is great news, especially to developers who were worried that the 40gb might not have any effect.

$399 ps3 couldn’t have come soon enough….if they did 75k in the last week of october and only 121k for the month
November 15th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
What about software sales? I’m hearing R&C sold 75k in it’s first 11 days or so.
