Now I’m not advocating actually purchasing these speakers, mind you. Anything priced at £69 / €97 can’t sound that good. But I have to admit that they look kinda cool, which is why I posted this pic:

You’d be suprised at the sound that some speakers produce. My surround sound cost $60.00 and it sounds just as great as a $300.00 system. Also, if you stood the PS3 vertically between the two speakers it would look pretty cool. Nice styling.

I’m picking up a Panasonic 5.1 surround sound system with wireless speakers. It was one of the few systems i could find with an optical input. Anyway i like the styling of the speakers, very PS3…..

That’s a very cool look, tempting until I get my real audio set up.

I want to see a cheap all-in-one setup like this that supports uncompressed 5.1 PCM bit streams over HDMI. That would be something to buy!

With a “cheap all-in-one setup like this” (emphasis added), you probably wouldn’t be able to hear the difference between uncompressed PCM and compressed audio.

Henning I would say that under a $1000 you wouldn’t be able to hear the difference!
I wouldn’t waste my money on crap. You can get a decent beginner receiver for a hundred or two and buy some used speakers to get started. Good stereo sounds much better than crap surround.
Getting your system in pieces is usually the way poor 20-30 year olds have to do it. The fact the system isn’t complete also helps the process of completing it.

I’d spend that same 70 pounds on a decent pair of headphones instead, and use those rather than speakers…headphones also help in games like CoD4…you can actually hear where people are coming from..just buy a $3 mini-jack to RCA cable.
