I need to play COD4. I hear good things everywhere. Having not played it though, and having played both RFoM and Warhawk, I hafta say Warhawk is the best online game. It may not have in-game messaging and other cool stuff, but as a game, I think it may be better. Though I did put a TON of time into online Resistance as well. They both rock...

Gary, Skate seemed fine to me (only played demo and watched comparison videos). And I played quite a bit of Rainbow Six and it was great (the lack of online lobby was weird but that was it). I just don't see a large multiplatform deficiency.

mcloki, great post. Except that I really like the recent U.S. ads. The Europe and japan ads look dumb, but I thought that's just my American taste.

Paranomia, I couldn't agree more.

I'm just hoping that the PS3 can shake off what remains of the "unfashionable" image that much of the games media have forced upon it. For some reason, it's been touted as a machine with a number of 'problems', which is of course complete fantasy. Especially when given the 'competition' of a last-gen machine with a gimmicky controller, and a system with a failure rate approaching 25%.

For me, 2007 has been a very good year. There was a barren spell for games after launch, but fortunately there were some outstanding launch titles which saw us all through that time. And with recent titles like Ratchet, Uncharted and CoD4 (in TRUE 720p :-p), PS3 is finding its feet and beginning to punch its weight.

As PS3 games become larger and more complex, I think we'll see it pull away from the competition in 2008. Beginning with titles like Killzone 2, I believe we'll see more and more titles which simply cannot be achieved on other systems, PS3 will secure its place as the only true next-gen system, and many media types will be force-fed large amounts of humble pie.

I have to say that I felt that 2007 was a year more of bad news than good news. I often felt that the PS3 was getting the short end of the stick. I hope that 2008 gives the PS3 better treatment.
