The reviews were excessively harsh on this, but it was still a big disappointment. Best PS2 Game: Manhunt 2. Would also be my vote for best fiction and most underrated, but it’s not qualified being a PS2 title. GOTY: Rock Band. Ratchet is close behind, but the ability to learn to play drums is just too cool.

Mike Says: December 30th, 2007 at 11:26 pm “Because if your going to say any other game besides Call of Duty 4 for Game Of The Year …then you clearly have not played it.” I own it, it is definitely my favorite multiplayer game of the year which is nothing to scoff at with Halo 3, Team Fortress 2, and Warhawk being great online games. But the single player is extremely repetitive on subsequent runs through the game because of the “clown car” enemy spawning. I’ve played through most of the game on veteran and it just spams you with enemies rather than increasing the intelligence of the enemies. If this were a 360 site, my GOTY vote would be going to Bioshock because of those problems with COD4’s campaign (and Halo 3 being about as long as the HL2 episodes). “and what if your not a fan of FPS..?? you certainly won’t vote on one.” So…? I’m not a fan of games with elves in them so I won’t be voting for an RTS or MMO any time soon. Why would someone vote for a game that fails to interest them? The only real problem is the “overrated” category. Lair got the reviews it deserved, and I’m not sure who expected it to be great given how negative the previews were. Assassins Creed was deemed a AAA game well over a year ago just because Ubisoft hyped it as such, but the reviews and feedback from a lot of people who played the game certainly don’t back that up.

Also, overhyped and overrated probably should have been different categories. One implies excessive preview buzz and the other implies excessive critical reaction to the final product.
