Playstation Eye Interview
Posted by Blackstaffer in PS3 on May 1st, 2007
N’Gai Croal had a chance to talk to Dr. Richard Marks, the man behind the upcoming PLAYSTATION EYE.

It’s an interesting interview. It discusses the trade-offs they had to make when it came to resolution, speed, audio, and price. For example:
For Playstation Eye, we worked closely with Omnivision, our sensor chip partner, on a design that is counter to the mainstream trend of smaller pixels. In low-light conditions, this means that each sensor pixel is able to gather more of the available light and produce a better signal.
Which basically means that they traded higher resolution for better performance in low-light conditions. Makes a bit more sense now that the EYE isn’t HD.
I’m still torn. I have an EyeToy camera already. I’ll have to see if any games come out that support the EYE but not the EyeToy…

Man I hate spammers.
I’ve closed down the forums because I have to delete a couple spam users per day, and it’s really getting annoying.
Call of Duty 4 Outted
Posted by Blackstaffer in C, PS3 software on April 30th, 2007
Activision has revealed the latest Call of Duty title, in development for the PS3, XBox 360, and who knows what else. It’s called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare”. Ooooh. What an exciting and predictable name! (I actually saw an article about that somewhere, but I lost the URL…)
Anyway, the new game takes place during modern times and is set in the middle east.
The official game website is linked below: Charlie Oscar Delta! CoD! Get it? Unfortunately, this site is following the stupid trend of making you sign up for content. I hate that. So I didn’t sign up. Somebody tell me if there’s anything good there.
In the meantime, here are some screenshots.

And here is the trailer. Too bad they don’t show much (anything?) about the in-game play.
‘The Eye Of Judgement’ Video

Here’s a cool little video of The Eye of Judgement.
Everyone is comparing it to the holographic chess board where R2D2 and Chewbacca battle it out in Star Wars: A New Hope. But I don’t know. Without Han Solo there to make snide comments about Wookiees and limbs being torn assunder, it’s just not the same thing…
Burnout 5 == Burnout Paradise
Posted by Blackstaffer in B, PS3 software on April 30th, 2007
I tried downloading the Burnout Paradise trailer from a different source, and it stopped at the 54% mark. I guess I should try IGN! Downloading…
Burnout Paradise? What’s that? It’s the new name for Burnout 5, of course. Burnout Paradise is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 this winter.
IGN points out that from the trailer its obvious that the game has “an immense draw distance and busy streets”. I really like long draw distances – anybody who’s played MotorStorm knows how great the effect is.
Personally, I wonder how effective the new one-world concept will work. We’ll see soon enough.
