Sony will be wanting to get this spot on from day 1, and we'll all be wanting that too.

As I've read elsewhere, think of the amount of criticism that blew up out of the botched Metal Gear Online beta. I suspect that many more people will be trying Home than MGO, so things really need to be ready to roll from the start. Any significant bugs or server issues, and Sony will most likely be crucified.

The negative energy flowing from this announcement is good and plenty, but I for one don't care if it is delayed. Truely, I see somewhat of a lack of content for the PS3 right now, and having Home to just chill around in would quench my thirst somewhat. However, I can't be too upset about the wait if it ends up being as awesome as they claim it will be. We all just have to hope that the legacy PlayStation has built will be strong enough to keep the fanbase alive till Home launches (obviously it is).

Think about it this way, this is one of Sony biggest cards for the PS3. After Home is good and done and launched, what's next on the planning board? In-game XMB, and after that? Nothing as big as those 2 things, so Sony is putting their programmers paychecks to use on the big fish and taking their sweet time.... I agree with open beta tho, to help calm the floodgates.

It will be good.

I think Home will be elevated to a whole new level once you start using it with your friends and getting trophies and whatnot. Without that stuff, I can see how beta testers could get bored with it.

I dunno what takes Sony so long to do this...

I know, network infrastructuring is quite a task, but the rest should be "same old same old". I mean, I doubt, Home will ever be as big as WoW or somesuch (ok, they do have had som serious server problems in the beginning), thus it should be quite easy to develop it (and only one console, instead of thousands of PC configurations and Macs).

I sort of don't care for Home anymore... no news and nothing newsworthy being reported by some beta testers I know... thus Home has become boring!

And YES the beta testers are under NDAs, thus I cannot say who my source is (it is NOT me^^)

They did report that there will be more beta testers. The next batch of testers should arrive this summer. In the fall they'll switch to open beta. I'm just wandering how much time they'll need from open beta until production. They need to get their schedules right and release it already. If the basic functionality is there, everyone will be happy. PS3 can patch it further, so why would they wait?

ps Are the current beta testers under NDA or something?
