GTA came in to surprise me as being quite possibly my favorite game out on the current consoles. That coming from a guy who’s hated the previous games with passion. After GTA and God of War on the PSP, there were only two games that had me really excited to play this year. Lego Indy and Lego Batman. They’ve been wonderful fun for my wife and I… we’re already half way through Indy and we’ve been loving every minute of it. Sure we’ll eventually end up getting Resistance 2 and Gears 2 eventually, but those games don’t have the same importance to us as these Lego games do.
I was wondering… isn’t it a little soon to start wondering if Lego gaming has gone too far? At this point they’ve only released Lego games on two franchises. I mean sheesh, they put out Lego Star Wars and Lego Indy and already it’s gone too far? I’ll grant you that Batman doesn’t seem as sure of a fit as Star Wars or Indy, but so far the previews look like it’ll be on par with the other titles. I’m kind of excited to see if they can branch out to something other than Lucas trilogies.

The whole idea of LEGO-izing a movie into a game felt like a one-trick pony to me. A fad. Like pet rocks. It wouldn’t make sense to do “More Stones” and “Pet Menhirs”. Ah well, to each his own I say.
