What the PS3mote could have been or could still be

There has been talk about this off and on for the past couple years. The technology is called Sixense. I haven’t heard of it being developed in any PS3 games yet though. But I can say with absolute certainty that this has been at least tested by PS3 developers and I’ll just leave it at that.

But if this did come out for the PS3 would you buy it? Would it be used in full length games? Or just mini games like the PS Eye is being used for now?

For some reason I have always bought the alternate controllers. I’d probably get this one too.

Does anyone know if it is just accelerometer based (like iPhone or six-axis) or also infared like the Wii?

I really doubt this controller would be good for much besides casual games, but there is certainly value in that.

I’m actually impressed… I din’t know this existed even. I’d most probable get it, especially if there are cool casual games to enjoy using this control scheme

    Says:

It has a accelerometer and it’s not infrared. It has a tripod thing that sits by the tv as well. That’s how it knows where the controller is in 3D space like when he ducked behind the box in the paintball demo.

The tech is very interesting but it brings up 2 questions to me.
Will they be splitting their development base? Games that use this controller and games that don’t. This might make the PS3 harder to develop for. A concern but that’s all.

I like the tech demo, the accuracy needs tweaking, but i understand it’s a demo.
I guess it would all depend on the games.
I’ve got a wii and haven’t played it in 5 months. So it is the games that matter.
