Finally Saw a KZ2 Ad |

Last night I saw my first KZ2 ad on TV. I was watching the Space channel, hardly a mainstream channel, when it came on. I was rather surprised, truth be known. Sony has promised a huge marketing push for the game, but they said the same thing for LittleBigPlanet. And we all know what happened there.

I hope to see more ads, and on more mainstream channels. I hope to see marketing of all sorts. Time will tell…

Yes i also saw an advert last night during the Man U V Inter Champions League game. It was a good ad but the first i have seen for Sony for a long time, at least is showed actual in-game footage, which looked great…..

  • Apparently Sony is about to launch a 2 million Euro campaign just for the UK. According to an article in a dutch news paper, Guerilla Games(GG) is based in Amsterdam as you all should know, Sony will spend an equal amount of money on marketing and advertising KZ2 as they invested in making the game.

During the summer of 2008 the team of GG counted around 200 developers. The game has been in development with GG since 2005 when Sony acquired them. The team at that time was 45 people.

All this text just to say that Sony will be blowing a lot of cash out of the door, just for marketing. It’s not really needed for me, since I already pre-ordered my copy last year November 🙂

  • I’ve seen the KZ2 ad on UK TV 3 times now. Also seen a few for LBP and Pacific Rift.

  • I don’t watch TV much. So I haven’t seen anything yet.

TV? what is that? Is that some new age thing?

    Space channel? That’s hilarious.

  • No need to be too artsy, just in-your-face advertisement is fine.. And it is always nice to *not* include a masturbating man in your ad. Memo to Sony.

I also saw it on the Daily Show last night. It’s a pretty targeted media spend.
I did see a street fighter ad on sportsnet but only once.

    Masturbating man? Elaborate.

  • Uh, no. Please don’t.

yep saw the advert too during the champions league and seen more of little big planet again. i’ve always seen lbp as more of a slow burner constantly selling.

  • @henning: sorry that I seemed out of place, but it is not my fault that a sony commisioned ad firm produced this:

It is a very high quality production, but utterly pointless. I didn’t feel like watching it again, but I guess it features that man I am talking about, and more. Why did they pay money for this production is beyond me, they could have produced 4-5 simple but effective ads or 1 powerful ad that could be aired more frequently..

I hope they are spending Killzone advertisement money well, but given their past record, I’m always skeptical.
