Yea, I was not pleased when it showed up in my Inbox. Strongly thought about droping BR. But I'm a Extras junkey and blurays tend to have more extras on disk one and only Netflix rents "Disk 2" So saddly I'll just eat the extra 2 bucks.

I only wish Netflix had a Buy/Keep option like Gamefly does as I couldn't care less about Streamed movies.

You Americans just be glad that you HAVE such a service... With the same "mail-in" service, we pay about 50% more in Germany (12€ for a "flatrate" of BDs and DVDs) WITHOUT a download service and NO games either (in UK, they have games included too, we pay extra PER GAME for them).

I would, no questions asked, subscribe to such a service DAY ONE, if it came to Germany! But alas, no one has tried it yet.

Well this hike got me to disable my Blu-Ray option as well. And it's making Blockbuster a more tempting option. If/when they get their own streaming service out I might have to give them some consideration.

And I'd say you're right Mike. Netflix has said a number of times they'd love to switch their entire business over to streaming in the future. A recent news article I read claimed it only costs them $.08 to stream an hour of video as opposed to over $.80 to send out a disc. Seems like a no brainer to me. And as a customer I have to say I'm loving it. Unlimited viewing at any time of day or night will always trump having to pick a movie in advance and hope you still want to watch it after it shows up in the mail. And while I also agree that on a technical level their HD streams don't match up with a nice transfer on a Blu-Ray, to be fair what digital HD download does? I think saying it's not up to snuff is a bit harsh. The HD films I've watched on my set looked great, much better than suffering through them in SD anyway. Plus, if I care that much about how a movie looks I'll buy the Blu-Ray. But for most rentals, seeing it in HD is plenty enough for me. Not every movie needs 1080P.

It is going to suck if/when Blockbuster goes under. I think Netflix is doing this to funnel people towards their streaming service, which in terms of visual quality, simply is not up to snuff.
