Call of Duty: World at War Patch

From the Call of Duty forums:

Hi everyone

So as you know, Map Pack 1 is releasing shortly March 19th or has already released depending on when you read this. With it, a new TU / Patch is being released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

We have been reading many of the suggestions in the community rgarding improvements to the game, and hope that you’ll find many of them in the list below. I think the most popular item in this list will be the improvements to the spawn system included in this TU =.

Items Addressed:

  • All rifle grenades fired during the first 15 seconds of Search & Destroy will be duds to prevent griefing in that game mode.
  • Improvements have been made to the global spawn system – players should never spawn within the line of sight of an enemy.
  • Players who equip the Bouncing Betty and melee teammates in Hardcore game modes are now credited with a team kill penalty.
  • Players are now deducted 200 points for team killing the bomb planter/defuser in Hardcore Search & Destroy.
  • Martyrdom no longer causes “direct impact” grenade deaths in Hardcore modes.
  • Players ranked higher than the maximum allowed in the Boot Camp playlist are no longer able to play in games with lower ranked friends in that playlist.
  • “Bayonet jumping” has been disabled.
  • Further improvements have been made to geographical matchmaking.
  • The “New” icon clears when a player has viewed an unlocked weapon X360 only.
  • Many zombies were raised from the dead.

Hope to see you online, and enjoy the new updates and maps

Regards,

-JD

MGO SCENE Expansion out today [Update]

I haven’t tried it yet, but here are some more details. There will be three new skills with this expansion among other things.

The First of these is CQC (Close Quarters Combat) EX. In order to obtain this skill, you have to execute a CQC maneuver 200 times with CQC Mastery Lv3 equipped. Once you have this skill, your character will automatically counter an opponent’s CQC attack.

You can also gain Toughness, by receiving a knockback, knockdown, or blow away type attack 100 times. Once you have this Skill, your character will be able to endure knockdown attacks and recover time will be decreased.

The third Skill you can gain is Charm, by getting distracted by a magazine 100 times. It’s similar to Mei-Ling’s special skill, where holding the salute pose will have the same distracting effect as a magazine. The salute motion will also change to one of three different exclusive random animations.

The CQC EX skill looks cool, wonder if the counter covers punches and kicks or just grabs. I’m thinking the latter. On the Toughness skill, I assume you need to get hit with explosives or shotgun/rockets. I can see the Toughness skill coming in very handy actually. The Charm skill is funny, lol. But I can see a lot of people getting the rat emblem in the process.

If you play MGO you know about the emblems you “earn” in the game. Now you’ll receive a free in-game t-shirt with that emblem! Plus there are 2 new emblems:

* Fighting Fish (unlock by playing a series of Death matches)
* Arctic Skua (unlock by playing through a series of Solo Capture missions)

So will you be getting the SCENE DLC?

Metal Gear Online – SCENE Expansion Skills and Map Details

[Update]

I played it for about an hour last night, I love the new expansion so far.

A few small things I noticed:

* The time and date at the top of the menu’s (not during game play itself)
* After a match is shows if you earn points to improve your rank or points taken away from your rank
* During game play it says if you got 3 kills, 5 kills, 3 consecutive head shots etc.
* Not sure if explosives effected the environment before or not. I just saw something last night that seemed to imply it did.
* I thought you could throw knifes with Raiden and Vamp? But I played during a custom match so maybe that was turned off?
* There is a PSN Wallet option in the menu, but it’s disabled at the moment. Maybe it will be updated on Thursday with the store update?

And I tried to CQC someone last night and they already had CQCEX!! Man that’s quick, it resulted in me being thrown to the ground.

Ninja Gaiden Σ 2

watergaiden-1

In summer of 2007, Ninja Gaiden Black, got a full-blown remake on the PS3 with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1. Now, according to these Famitsu scans, Ninja Gaiden 2 is getting the PS3 enhancement treatment, with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

Ninja Gaiden is one of the few critically praised 3D melee action series along with Devil May Cry and God Of War.

Anyone excited about this one?

Mockers Night #3 – Please Play!

Update: We are looking for more members! I will be revoking about 10 invites soon. See here for what the clan is all about. If you can join our regular weekly games, and you’re not a hot-shot gamer, consider joining!

I think we should get into a groove with Mocker games. So let’s get together this week at the same times as we did last week:

Tuesday @ 10pm EST
Wednesday @ 9pm EST
Thursday @ 10pm EST

The password is mentioned in the clan’s Message of the Day. Feel free to invite friends to play. I might actually be on before 10pm tonight, but all the action officially starts at 10.

I ask that clan members please join these games. There are 52 of us in the clan, so we should be getting more than just eight people playing. I’d like to see some eight versus eight battles going. If you’re a member of The Mockers but don’t regularly play with us, I ask that you consider leaving the clan.

TCCCCnME: you asked about a 8v8 or 5v5 tournament. What do you mean? A battle against another clan? A tournament within the clan?

Sinlock: I don’t know why you said you’re not in the clan. You are. As to your connection problems, try putting your PS3 in your router’s DMZ. (This will require that you give your PS3 a static IP address.)

alirezas: You have an invite.

Sacred 2 Release Date now 12may09

sacred2_bikini.png

Now that I have and am playing Killzone 2, the next title I’m looking forward to is Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. Unfortunately, I just found out that the console version of this game has been pushed back to 12may09.

Hopefully they’re using that time to polish up the game. I don’t want to see the same problems with the console version as I heard the PC version had.

PlayStation Eye … where are the games?

PlayStation Eye

There has been very little support for the PlayStation Eye. I loved the idea of “The Eye of Judgment”, it’s just not my kind of game. Then the rest of the games are just mini games on the PSN or “art” games. Which is fine, but I haven’t heard of new games in development for it.

Edit - Here are some Games in development I forgot about:

EyePet
Eyedentify (Thanks Stephen, I couldn’t think of the name)

The free video editing software for the PS Eye available from the PlayStation Store is fun. I mainly use the stop motion option, it’s very fun and easy to do. I animated Wall.E rolling across the floor and transforming into his cube :P

I would like to see a PS3 Bundle with the following.

Official PlayStation Headset
PlayStation Eye
A code for some PS Eye games of the PSN Store

Right now the PS Eye alone is about $32 – $40.

What I really like is how they incorporated the PS Eye into Burnout Paradise, that’s a perfect way to use it. I wish more games used the PS Eye. It’s also handy as a extra mic in case your bluetooth one runs out of juice. It actually works quite well too. But mine just sits on top of the HDTV pretty much unused right now. Oh, and it’s fun to use it as a surveillance camera via remote play ;)
