The guys over at TheGamerAccess.com, was looking at the SCEA press site and found this – PS3 Debug Firmware Update 2.80. But nothing comes up when he clicked it. Matt Furtado @ examiner.com says this:
There are a few fixes to increase performance such as faster Trophy synchronization and faster XMB loads.
The update will have one new feature PS3 owners wants. Sadly, it won’t be immediately useful to us.
Mmm, wonder what that might be. Any thoughts?

According to some insider…it could have to do with cross game voice chat which he said will be operational on version 3.0.
he also gave some info on the Slims saying they will be bare bones minimum. No power switch in the back, no secondary OS installation. Cutting out alot of pork.

The only thing I want is new/custom avatars. Iam sick and tired of the same old ****. Every time there is a new game they should add them.

Hello, I just wanted to provide everyone with a head’s up that the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update (v2.80) will be coming soon. The playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 format software has been improved.

IDK if that means all games will be able to upscale to 1080p or what, but there is no mention of anything to do with cross game chat and stuff like that.

I installed it last night, but I let it install and shut down. So I haven’t tried it out yet. Notice any changes?
