The thing is, the PS3 is still selling reasonably well despite the price. I'd rather they kept the price as it is long enough to make a profit. That guarantees that they stick around in the games industry. Well, okay, maybe nothing guarantees that, but they're more likely to if they're making profit. If they cut the price and continue making a loss just to please developers and tightwads, there's always the chance they may not stick around for PS4 and PSP2, and I certainly don't want a gaming environment where all I have to choose between is Mario Kart and Halo. But it would also mean Sony continuing to make a loss.
