I think Sony really needs to consider lowering the price point. What makes more sense, making a few expensive ones that no one’s buying, wasting stock on resources, etc, or lowering the price point resulting in more sales and more than make up for the losses on each console sold by having a larger attach rate on software and peripherals?

Sony should NOT lower the price… until the cheaper slim-model is ready.
Dropping the price before hand, and wasting the sales surge on these expensive to make, bulky units would be a waste.

Yeah I’m with Darrin here. But, I believe they need to lower it at some time in the not-so-far future. September looks good.

The price drop is coming. Sony is just clearing inventory right now. Canadian retailers have already received notice that new 80gigs won’t be coming from factories.
Once those old units are out the new ones will drop.
The new Slims will probably drop with the Madden 10 release. Mid August.
