Uncharted 2 Will NOT Have a Mandatory Install

For those of you who pre-ordered from Best Buy, apparently on the box, it says the game requires at least 1.7GB. Not to worry, though, as Naughty Dog has confirmed that the game will NOT require a HDD install, so those of us who still have the stock hard drive won’t have to worry about another game taking up precious space.

Naughty Dog even posted on their official Twitter account that there is no mandatory installation. According to Arne Meyer (Naughty Dog’s Senior Marketing Manager on NeoGAF), it’s most likely a printing error on SCEA’s part because the required space numbers match that of InFamous.

Trion Hiring PS3 Programmers for SyFy Network MMO

phpStcoxQAM

The devs at Trion have been working on a SyFy Network MMO that incorporates a tv show with a PC MMO. Details are sketchy but you watch the show and then log in to do something related to the show. Very catchy aspect if done right.

Well new job postings went up recently at Trion that indicated they were looking for PS3 Graphical Programmer and a Senior Programmer for the PS3 for a “SyFy Project”.

No idea what the show is, what it looks like. All we know is it will be an action RPG MMO.

I like the concept, lets hope it turns out nicely.

Comic-Con ’09: White Knight Chronicles Preview

The guys at Kotaku got a chance to preview a little bit of Level 5′s PS3 exclusive White Knight Chronicles at this year’s Comic-Con.

While they noted alot some may already know about what we can expect from the game, the part I found most interesting was the fact  that character you create can play along side the main characters in the story and  it will appear in the cutscenes.

The third character in my party was the custom character that each player creates at the beginning of the game. The custom character travels with the party for the entire length of the game’s story, and is also used in White Knight’s online co-op modes.

I’m a sucker for adding a little bit of myself to a game I’m playing, even if that little bit is slightly tipsy. Not only do you get pages worth of options for tailoring your character’s look to your taste, once a cut scene kicks in you get to see them actively participating in the game’s story.

The character customization  sounds intriguing and deep. I’m sold on that and the turn based battle system, as well, even though Kotaku doesn’t seem to be too impressed.

I love turn-based roleplaying games. It’s only been over the past few years that I’ve really begun to appreciate a good team-based action RPG. What I am still having trouble with is attempts to combine the two formats into some sort of hybrid. I wasn’t all that fond of the Final Fantasy XII battle system, and White Knight Chronicles seems to lack the polish that Square Enix put on theirs. Watching a white circle slowly drawing itself on your screen just doesn’t seem like a fun way to spend several hours battling the forces of not good.

WKC is set for an early 2010 release in US and EU. Next year is shaping up to be a great year for PS3 owners who want some quality rpgs. I just hope Level 5 can have the game ready before FF13 or else I’ll probably be playing  online by myself.

Sony doubling PS3 Manufacture Orders

Digitimes reports that demand for different key PS3 components is roughly doubling.

The most likely explanations:

  1. Sony is gearing up for the launch of a new PS3 model (such as the rumored slimline)
  2. Sony is planning a price drop and is ramping up supply to satisfy the anticipated demand surge.
  3. Both

I’d imagine that Sony is planning to launch the slimline at the same time as the price drop to create a bigger impact than the two events would have separately.

PS3Blogs weekly game.

Instead of using The Mockers, which is our Killzone 2 Clan. I was wondering, maybe we could move from Killzone to another game. In my last post, here. Doshin730 gave a great point that we could move it to Battlefield 1943, which I don’t own. Do you want to move it to Battlefield 1943, Fat Princess (comes out this week :D ), or keep it at Killzone 2?

Whoever sets up the game, name it “The Mockers”.  Tuesday 10 Eastern Time, Wednesday 9 Eastern.

Fat Princess This Thursday

That’s right, Fat Princess will be hitting PSN this Thursday for $14.99 USD. It will also be released simultaneously worldwide, hitting North America, Europe and Asia. A release is still being worked out for Japan and nothing was said about an Australian release, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be released there as well. You can check out the Interview done by the Official PS Blog here:
