More Final Fantasy XIV Details!


The Sept 2009 edition of Famitsu Wave has released in Japan with a DVD sporting an 8 minute section on Final Fantasy XIV that covered some more info.

-FFXIV world of ‘Haiderin’ is bigger then FFXI.

-Setting is a “high-fantasy” style differing from FFXI

-More advanced technology with a more modern setting.

-Some races will look familiar but will have different names.

-There will be no experience points. FFXIV revolved around “growth”.

-Many different quest and freedom to choose them that will allow your character to grow naturally.

-The job system will be kept with more added. Weapons will be the key to growth.

-Large scale battles are being considered.

-Music composed entirely by Uematsu

I personally can’t wait to see more info on this game. I’m hoping they figure out a way to tie in the hardcore FFXI fans with the more casual style of WOW playersl..

    Say What? no experience points? there using growth? sounds retarded. Whats wrong with using xp? I need a ‘growth’ example. Iam losing interest…fast

    the way it sounds to me is that it will be a series of quest and or weapons that unlock abilities. Certain abilities probably can only be unlocked for certain jobs and some abilities for all jobs. Or unlock stats as well. either way it sounds like you strategically need to grow yourself through the world.

    it has great potential as long as it appeals to the hardcore as well as the casual.

    I do know its disheartening when you look up in FFXI and see 30k till next level.

    I dont care if it was 100k to next level. Numbers is what keeps me coming back. Numbers are addictive to me. Its why I dont like zelda type games (no lvl’n up w/points).

    they said they liked the job system and will keep it as well as add more. and Trieloth….thats an odd outlook because technically everything will probably still be worked out in numbers but just not visual to you. I can’t say that seeing the numbers makes a bit of difference to me.

    He actually said “Vana’diel as a full world, is naturally a little bigger.” He never said that Hai-de-rin was bigger. It may in fact be bigger but they actually said that Vana’diel was bigger than the Region Eorzea. Who knows Eorzea could encompass almost all of Hai-de-rin. Just some food for thought I dont mean to nit pick. And I missed the part where they said they will keep the job system. From what i understood they said that they were going to expand upon it and make it something completely different. Anyways well hope this helps to clear up some misinterpretations.

    Well we know that Eorzea is one region within Haiderin.

    They want to keep the general idea of the job system…not the exact same job system from what I understand.

    well it is weapon based and skill based, so you yourself improve at the game and you get better weapons when you kill harder monsters or do harder quests, like monster hunter.. it adds realism to the game and also lowers the use of power levelling and stuff like that, its a GOOD IDEA!!
