Yeah, that’s cheap.

Creatively bankrupt.
#5 by T0SH on August 6th, 2009 [ 796 Points ]
I don’t know how they can get away with that …..
#6 by Tiran Kenja on August 6th, 2009
Guess their marketing department and executives does not keep up with the console market much…
#7 by FrenchK on August 6th, 2009 [ 325 Points ]
Wow… The add could of even basicly have been made in LBP

Sony should seize on that with a re-launch of LBP.
“LBP… so good, even our competitors use it!”
#10 by mcloki on August 6th, 2009
That’s the best mockery idea yet. It would definitely get a ton of hits on youtube.
I did go out and buy ‘The Go Team albums” Nice happy bouncy cheerful music. Xylophones, Great drums, banjo’s.
And Microsoft steal or plagiarize something?
Windows meet OSX.
#11 by FrenchK on August 6th, 2009 [ 325 Points ]
Unfortunately i don’t have the LBP creator skills to pull it off lol

Going to try and view this on my phone as it is blocked on my work’s network

The song is “Get It Together” by “The Go! Team”:

The song wasn’t created for LittleBigPlanet, but was licensed by Sony, and obviously was popularized and is identified with the game.
Nothing illegal or immoral here, but this is definitely annoying and obnoxious.

Sadly, mini flash on winmo phones with opera just don’t cut it.

It feels very weird to see xbox imagery with this tune. It is so tied to LBP now, I can’t even think about it outside LBP’s context.

i hope for their sake this was a mistake and they didn’t realize…
#18 by Sakinah on August 6th, 2009 [ 26489 Points ]
Like Microsoft, lol.
I bet they would have never heard of this song if LBP hadn’t popularized it. I know I wouldn’t have.

Way to keep it honest Darrin. I’m glad to see that.
I was a bit shocked to read all these comments. If the Sony fanboys are bent out of shape about this, imagine how the MS fanboys must feel. There are very few actual FEATURES on the PS3 that weren’t debuted and perfected on an XBox before hand. Be it the persistent online presence to the trophies that ‘unlock’ with them… all the way down to a built in HDD. Why can’t we just get along? As a rule marketing companies are deplorable, and that’s true no matter who’s behind the company. I think all those who feels the need to constantly bash their neighbors take a second and realize we’re all in the gaming industry together. Console makers come and go, there’s no logical reason for this blind loyalty to a company after your money. What’s important is to support the industry and the games that make this hobby great!

Jimmy, you are talking about imitating successful features… That’s a completely different subject.
I think this ad is generally annoying to most online gamers but nothing more.
I agree with you on on brand/corporate loyalty. Pure gamers should not have any loyalties or emotional aversions to company and their brands. Ironically, both you and I have huge emotional preferences. However this a completely different subject for another post.

The only issue is that I have is that the ad says that it says Live is free.
#22 by Kicks on August 6th, 2009 [ 1054 Points ]
wow…..
I wonder if MS bought the rights to the song in the same manner that the bought Bungie while they were still mac developers.
Confirmed, MS has paid a mole a Media Molecule to leak all future LBP songs so that MS can buy them and sue MM and Sony if they put any music in the game….
#23 by No Kill Tayler on August 6th, 2009 [ 1865 Points ]
I understand, its just when I hear this song its pretty tied to LBP, that the ad just didn’t make sense to me. Plus I own a 360, and I wish there was no such thing as loyalty to a console. Point by fight club, we get too attached to our products.
#24 by Kicks on August 7th, 2009 [ 1054 Points ]
I don’t consider myself a ps3 fanboy
I used to own both the 360 and ps3 and used them both, but then I bought a house and had to really think about how I spent my money. Did I want to spend $36-50 a year on a live subscription or put that towards a retail game or several PSN titles. I opted for the free online play of the ps3, but sorely miss some of the xbox live features that work better than the PSN. It just wasn’t worth the fee to me.
I also like trophies better than achievements because the trophies just seem to make more sense. I beat Avatar on the 360 and got all 1000 gamerscore, but I also got all 1000 on CoD4. There is no way that the Mile High Club achievement should have been worth less than a single achievement in avatar.
Sorry if my post came off fanboyish. I’m a fanboy of games and non-monopolies.

There’s loyalty in news channels, sports, food brands, operating systems, PC vs Macs. I don’t see why there can’t be loyaties in gaming systems.
Anyway this ad only points out how MS likes to copy Sony. They got the idea for the name of the Xbox from the square and x buttons on the PS controller and the circle button for the 360 part.

wow.. that is ridiculous.. no doubt they knew what they were doing
