The wait is over ladies and gentlemen. Its been a turbulent road but it looks like we can finally stick a fork in this crazy rumor.
Not only is the newest Best Buy add, showing off the Slim, but it is showing it at a $299 price point which is so very very sweet.
Looks like 160 gigs, 4 USB ports, the rest is hard to read. I’d like to also say it says full backward compatability!!!
So let’s here it? What do you think? Good news? Sales predictions?

printing of ads run a week and a half or so and hit stores a week early. Totally fake. Then you got that “The Slim is In” which doesn’t really add up, considering even the slimline PS2 wasn’t called PS2 Slim outside of the gaming community really.
The other fake alert? The spacing between the 5 and the 9 is way off on the 59.99 price tag. What to get out of this, though? The $299 price tag is very reasonable considering the production cost of a PS3 went down 70%.
In fact, they could technically go down to $120 and break even with what they were spending on the system before (which is 30% of $400), but for a good profit, $250 price tag would still result in a reasonable profit and be the same price as a Wii!

I’d edit my post if I could, but even if it’s 30% of $600, that’s still $180 (pfft, mine cost me $600 and people complain about the price now…)

I think it is fake but if imagined pressure is what it takes to get sony to get the damn thing down to $299 than people keep cracking away on photoshop.
And those games prices are too good to be true.

It does look a bit shady… but whoever made it made something I’d REALLY want to buy!
I’d really like them to get backwards compatibility going for all consoles as was rumored a while back. My launch PS3 has lost all but one of the USB ports and I’m really hesitant to send it in. For one the cost and for two the thought that they might “upgrade” my console to one without the onboard backwards compatibility. If they’d get the backward compatibility out there I could swap the 60gig with the 40gig in the bedroom and upgrade the hard drive! Then again, if the slim ever does launch I might be tempted to just buy a new one for the living room. I guess the longer they wait, the more likely I’ll be able to afford it!

looks like a fake. the numbers in the yellow tag are spaced more than usual. just check out the weekly ad on the best buy site. not a huge difference, but definitely noticeable. on a side note, $9.99 select titles? sweeeeeeeeet.

looked up the item number in the ad (112394) on best buy’s site. if this were real it would come back to something about the ps3. might not be full of information at this time or even a picture.
it came back to nothing.
