Cryteks view on the power of the PS3 | PS3Blog.net

Nope, the PS3 most certainly has not been pushed to its limit yet. Karl Hilton, Crytek UK managing director, is of this opinion, as divulged in an interview with Develop. The best is yet to come, and we’re all waiting for it.

“I don’t think we’ve seen the best out of the PS3 at all,” he said, “and I definitely think one of the best things about Crytek and CryEngine is that we’re now in the best position to get the most out of the hardware.”

He also mentioned Haze and how the team encountered a lot of development issues,

“which meant it wasn’t the game it should have been. A lot of them were technical issues; the PS3 is a powerful machine but a difficult one to get the best out of.”

So they went from “hard to develop”, to “technical issues”? Make your mind up Free Radical.

Dude, give them a break. At least they’re not Valve.

    True that.

  • i don’t see the distinction between “hard to develop” and “technical issues”? they say right there that it’s powerful but hard to get the best out of.

My point was, they didn’t give that excuse but now, they use it. Oh and when asked about their new engine, they say they have no problem now. I guess I’m being negative nancy here.
