Apparently, GameStop has a deal where you can trade in your ‘fat’ PS3 for $150 towards the purchase of the new slim PS3. All you need to do is supply everything that came with the system (minus the ethernet cable), and you’re golden. This is a for-sure deal for 40, 60 and 80GB models. No definitive word on the 20GB model, though most GameStops would probably honor it. You can also get $50 toward a purchase of a slim PS3 with a slim PS2, two controllers and a memory card, netting a possible total of $200 toward your purchase. For those with a 60GB, would you be willing to part ways with the system’s extra features, including backwards compatibility, just to get the new model? Source

haha, why would anyone trade in a PS2 or a backwards compatible phat PS3 for a slim one with NO backwards compatibility? HECK NO!
I’m keeping my 60 gb with BC.

I would keep my 60GB as well, but this might be a good deal for people who have like the 20, 40 or maybe even the 80GB and had it for a while and are looking to trade up for basically the same system, but with a 120GB HDD and ability to bitstream HD audio and the bravialink deal. But yeah, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would trade their 60GB for the slim.
EDIT:
Alright, found the deal on GameStop‘s site:

A better deal would be to allow exchanges of XBox 360s (with red ring of death) for a credit against a new PS3 slim…lets start winning the console war one XBox user at a time.

lol, the RROD deal would be sh***y for GameStop because it’s wasted system and would still cost them $150 to get it repaired as well. Not sure if they would be able to refurbish RROD360′s themselves.
