PS3 Slim Still Best Selling Video Game Product on Amazon
Posted by Jay in Hardware, Nintendo Wii, PS3, PS3 software, Sales, Wii Software, Xbox 360, Xbox 360 software on August 31st, 2009

Two weeks later, the PS3 is still the best selling video game product on Amazon (which is updated hourly), beating out both the Wii and the XBox 360 Elite, which are ranked 11th and 15th respectively. Funny thing is, the 360 had a price drop as well, within the last week, and its sales are nowhere near what the PS3 is getting (and it’s the only hardware in the top 10). Hopefully, this means the tides are truly turning and the PS3 really comes into fruition and starts taking its rightful place on top.
For those interested, here are the current Top 10 items on the list:
- PlayStation 3 120GB
- Wii Sports Resort
- Wii MotionPlus
- Halo 3: ODST (360)
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)
- Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (DS)
- PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 Wireless Controller
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (360)
- Tales of Vesperia (360)
- Wii Remote Controller
It’s always nice to see a multiplatform game do better on the PS3 as well! Can’t wait to see NPD numbers for September! Also of note, Best Buys and Targets are running out of PS3 slim systems, and a lot of them are even sold out, so it’s looking like the price drop and system redesign is really attracting attention, and people are seeing the PS3 as the better bargain now, since it’s the same price as an Elite system, but has a lot more built-in features (such as blu-ray and Wifi). Only thing I’d like them to do would be to include the component cables like the Elite system rather than the basic composite.

Disney to Acquire Marvel – How Will This Affect the PS3?
![]()
This announcement came out of nowhere and I’m shocked that it happened to begin with. A 4 billion dollar purchase of Marvel is just huge news.
So how will this purchase affect gaming and the PS3? Lets look at a couple of things.
-Marvel has had some issues with Sony in the past with lawsuits over the Spiderman licensing deal.
-We know that Disney and Sony are on fairly good terms being that they were one of the bigger companies to first jump on blu-ray.
-We also know that Sony has strong ties to DC as they are working on an in-house DC Comic MMO.
I really have no predisposed opinions on whats going to happen…but I’ll tell you what I want to happen:

Rumor: Top Secret Massive PS3 Exclusive Incoming
You’ve got to love internet rumors, especially when it’s PS3 exclusives related. The guys ( and gals ) over at PS3Xtreme claim to have the goods on a yet-to-be-announced PS3 exclusive.
First of all, don’t bother e-mailing us with desperate pleas; those e-mails will go unanswered. Secondly, you can theorize and speculate all you wish but you must always bear in mind that we did not confirm a damn thing. Thirdly, and this much we can almost promise: the game in question is something the vast majority of gamers will likely enjoy, and the only hint we can give you is that it is familiar. Well, we’re talking about a massive upgrade over the last installment, but nevertheless…familiar. The good news is that we might be able to spill the beans on this as early as January or February, but we’re at the mercy of Sony right now. Our source – who is no rumor-starter but the game designer currently working on the project – says his hands are tied on the issue, and we’ll continue to respect that. But if everything goes well, we’d like to think this game will be ready to go by the end of 2010; that may seem like a ways off, but we consider it a damn good reason to own a PS3.
You know about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, God of War III, MAG, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, and The Last Guardian. This title will have a place in that elite group as soon as it’s announced; you can be guaranteed of that. Oh, and if any of you are wondering if there’s a chance the game will go multiplatform: no.
Clue # 1: It’s a massive upgrade over the last installment, meaning it’s a sequel to a game already released. Clue #2: This title will have a place with ‘elite’ 1st and 2nd party titles could mean the mystery game will also be from a 1st or 2nd party dev team.
My guess is it’s Heavenly Sword 2. What does everyone else think?
Get $150 Toward a Purchase of a Slim PS3 at GameStop
Posted by Jay in Gaming Deals, PS3, PS3 Slim, QuickNews on August 30th, 2009
Apparently, GameStop has a deal where you can trade in your ‘fat’ PS3 for $150 towards the purchase of the new slim PS3. All you need to do is supply everything that came with the system (minus the ethernet cable), and you’re golden. This is a for-sure deal for 40, 60 and 80GB models. No definitive word on the 20GB model, though most GameStops would probably honor it. You can also get $50 toward a purchase of a slim PS3 with a slim PS2, two controllers and a memory card, netting a possible total of $200 toward your purchase. For those with a 60GB, would you be willing to part ways with the system’s extra features, including backwards compatibility, just to get the new model? Source
